We invited you to listen—with agriculture being the #1 industry in South Dakota---they as well as South Dakota Farmers Union represent so many families---so many communities and farmers---it’s the least we can do to do the shows and cheer them along.

  We are starting to see some concerns with Trees-----there is only one contact I have under Trees and it’s John Ball—Mr. Tree----he shared with me a tree that needed help-----and what you can do about it---so we wanted to include it in this special show----

   Mr. Tree---you received an email from Daniel Meinke of Sioux Falls and your note back to him said it looked like an ash tree---which normally drops their leaves in the fall with leaflets still together soi it looks like a clump---but as you shared---it is a little early to be dropping leaves----and promised to swing buy his home in Sioux Falls---and take a closer look…

   Talk to us about what Mr. Meinke was dealing with----and if you see what could be a trend this fall---

   Mr. Meinke said he didn’t recognize it----because it was dropping all its leaves in clumps---

South Dakota FFA Foundation Awards Grants for Local FFA Chapter Service-Learning Projects

The FFA motto all FFA members learn includes the words," Living to Serve", making service a core value taught

to SD's over 10,000 high school Agriculture Education students through their FFA participation. With state

educational budgets becoming tighter all the time, FFA chapters are forced to choose which worthwhile

activities they can still participate in. Sometimes that means service projects do not happen. The SD FFA

Foundation recognizes the value of local chapter service-learning projects and wants to enable Agriculture

Education programs to focus on student and community development. As a result, the SD FFA Foundation

provides up to $500/chapter for service projects in their local communities. SD FFA Foundation Executive

Director, Gerri Ann Eide says, &quote We want to grow community leaders for tomorrow by encouraging FFA

members to take an active role in the betterment of their communities and find pride in the communities at

the same time. These are valuable educational activities that impact agriculture education students for a

lifetime."

Congratulations to the following chapters receiving SD FFA Foundation funds for their service projects:

Buffalo Christian – creating accessible/engaging agricultural space for assisted living facility residents

Ethan – Building beds for “Sleep in Heavenly Peace”

Harrisburg – Implementing “Learner Interest Days” at elementary schools

Gregory County- Creating “A Bloom in Every Room” at the nursing home

Langford Area – Creating Birthday in a Bag kits

Lennox – Implementing ag literacy with books & activities at local elementary

Menno – Hosting a First Responder Appreciation event

Miller – Implementing equine therapy

Scotland – Assembling first aid kit for farm families and agricultural workers

Tri-Valley – Preparing and providing Christmas freezer meals for families in need

    Our Friends from South Dakota Farm Bureau ---who like South Dakota Farmers Union----does an hour long show each month----and it is on Tuesdays---Farmers Union did their on the 2nd Tuesday of the month----and Farm Bureau coming up at 10:05 this morning---

          Agriculture IS our Number one industry---and we share with us as partners with KELO-AM---what they are doing---what they see as important-----and we can follow them to Washington DC as we did last week-----and to their other events.

          We have been doing the Farmers Union and Farm Bureau shows for many-many years----we reached out to leadership to both organizations to partner with us—and we will help get their stories out on where they have been and where the hope to go.
