Blog—October 20, 2025—10-11—It’s YOUR Agri Business
Darren Hefty—AG PHD---led off our It’s YOUR Agri Business Show as we talked about families and what the elders can do to help the next generation.
With Dusty we talked about the bereavement I took to take Friday off after the death of my 100 year old mother just a little more than a month ago. The family was meeting as mom and dad planned for the future with the next 6 families that would receive land, savings, and more that they had saved, paid taxes on, and wanted to make the next generation able to accept land and finances that would help for generations to come.
Being the oldest of the family----it wasn’t me that suggested it—instead is was one of the youngest in the family ---teacher Kathy—who helped them to pay all taxes, and financials—so the 6 would be able to receive what the family had. The feeling of my parents Gene and Charlotte---was to give each family help for today, tomorrow and beyond.
After mentioning that---Darren Hefty—Mr. AG PHD—talked about the need for more families to do that---particularly in these times where its tough on the farm ---and in business---and paying the taxes----and more costs is a big deal. Darren suggested that others look at doing the same. The meeting that we held in Mapleton, Iowa on Friday—included three of the kids who were in person—and three that were watching on line spread from Colorado, Nebraska, and one other location.
Mr. Hefty of course does a national show on Sirius Radio and Televison----that talks agriculture.

Casey Crabtree—shared in this hour—federal support and the need it has for soybeans----he does get questions from his constituents all concerned about the prices, tough times for those in agriculture, the lack of respect that is out there for those in agriculture---should have us all who are doing ag radio and tv shows—to stick up for those that are finding difficult doings in 2025.
Brent Baloun---Plains Commerce Bank—shared with us the important for all of us—put especially those in agriculture, business, senior citizens and newly married to ask questions to Plains Commerce and their favorite banker to move in the best direction possible.
