Blog-November 10, 2020—10-11—SDFU SHOW

At a time that politics is perhaps in focus too much ---lots of uncertainty in Washington DC as we do our South Dakota Farmers Union Show.

Both Senator Mike Rounds and Congressman Dusty Johnson are in the show---and yes we’ll talk about what’s good for the country---particularly when it comes to the serious issue of cooperation with the transfer of power.

Farmers Union Luke Reindl joins me in the studio as we share what is important today.

From Congressman Johnson---the transfer of power----health care for South Dakota—living thru the COVID 19---and handling ag---- Collin Peterson—Minnesota’s Congressman lost the election as a House Member and Chair of the Ag Committee----it makes things different. While The Congressman is off to Aberdeen today—he weighs in on
issues in these delicate moments.

We talked with Rob Larew –President of the National Farmers Union---the discussion centered around working together with other farm  organizations----and Americans at a time that a virus is causing trouble---also lack of trade----and farmers who are having great
difficulty.

Mitch Richtor---SD Farmers Union Lobbyist in Pierre. A big concern----the number of members of the House and Senate in South Dakota will be Dwight D Eisenhauer like from 1953---we’ll talk about why----and what can be done ---as it looks like there was a systematic plan to make it a one-party state. What will be the game in Pierre---in 2021?

SDFU Convention on December 9th will be virtual—the guest will be Former Senator Tom Daschel. We’ll talk about being part of it---and how important togetherness—even with separation is in 2020 and beyond.

You’ll meet the South Dakota Farmers Union Farm Family of the Month—James Konnechne of Kimball---third generation---they work together and aim for the sky in years to come.

The South Dakota Stock Growers completed their Stock Growers Convention. Executive Director James Halverson fills us in on what is important----and how 2021 looks for our Stock Growers.

Brett Borkowski is an SDFU member—and has won two World Championships---US Mounted Shooting World Championship. It was in Puckawanna that got him started—and he was capturing world titles in Fort Smith Arkansas and Amarillo Texas.

10:45---Senator Mike Rounds joins us in Washington DC---South Dakota Farmers Union asks this morning---shouldn’t our South Dakota Delegation support democracy and encourage the President to concede the election---and even more important cooperate with the transfer of power.

We’ll talk health care---and we know that is so important to those in agriculture.  Trade----being united-----avoiding any conflicts for the change in power.

We close the hour with Scot Mundt—KELO-TV—AMS Meteorologist.

We’ve turned from 70’s to snow ----but there is hope that it could be returning next week to temperatures 50+
