Blog---March 24, 2025—9-10—It’s YOUR Business---

   Last week we celebrated Ag Appreciation and other topics in South Dakota. Yes we remember South Dakota this week as always---but we are saluting our friends in Iowa who will be appreciated for their Special week that includes Ag Appreciation. We have special guests scheduled from Iowa thru-out the week and we start this morning.

   While Ag Secretary Mike Naig will join us Wednesday—one of our best friends in Iowa---Mr. Lyon County---Dwight Mogler starts us out this morning.

   Yes he has a farm-a business and is know from his work with committees across the Hawkeye State.

   We’ll talk with him about transitioning to the growing season---how important is Ag in Iowa---what about in Lyon County. Is his a typical Iowa Ag Family---his hopes for 2025----

    Right behind him---we bring together those that work in helping house those folks in Iowa----provide banking support---but utilize a friend of our Tony Bachman—who helps us with our Report Card and Remodelers Shows—and actually helps those looking for housing in the Hawkeye State.

    We’ll learn about the median priced homes---economic factors influencing the market---strong manufacturing is big too.

    Southeast South Dakota by comparison has an average of 83 days on the market before it’s sold—in northwest Iowa---its just 53 days—indicating a seller’s market with high demand. 

    One of those with a name we know really well—Popkes—Greg not Gary—is with the East River Development in Rock Rapids----we’ll find out more---including what he sees as the general market and economy in Northwest Iowa. 

    There has been efforts to reduce property taxes for homeowners with recent legislation there aimed at limiting local government spending and capping tax rates. 

     New Flat Income Tax Rate---in Iowa has a flat individual income tax rate of 3.8% as of 2025---

     Much like South Dakota—Northwest Iowa is a Great Place to Live and Raise a Family. 

     The state is known for close-knit communities, friendly residents and a welcoming environment. 

      Good access to Quality Healthcare—with rural hospitals providing accessible and reliable medical care---and not too far away Avera and Sanford just across the border in South Dakota.

      High quality education—family friendly environment—and safe place to raise a family. 

     We’ll ask who’s buying ---who’s selling and we know some of those living there work in Sioux Falls. 

      Tyler Tordesen—is one of those we work with that hosts the Sioux Metro Alliance. We know they have 16 or so communities---there has been talked that Iowa communities have or could join and that gives us the thought that states can and do work together.

      Tyler will update us on what they are working with—how they are growing—and how this multi-community model is special—and has or will cross state boundaries.
