Blog---June 4, 2025—10-11—It’s YOUR Agri Business
Our It’s YOUR Agri Business Show—takes us a lot of very unique storylines---that can be a part of agriculture---and even part of the health-line.
On this particular show—we continued our segment working with the good people working and even playing their way in Madison County—and yes Lake Madison
We started in the 9-10 hour—we visited with the family of the 12 year old that was hit on one of the lakes---and lost her life. Family, businesses, and lawmakers jumped in to make a difference. They did so much the South Dakota Legislature passed a bill bringing this state into compliance with what Minnesota, Iowa and other states are doing about boat safety. We have been working with legislator Casey Crabtree and businessman Larry Kotten. They have taken the lead but we followed along to talk with the owners of Sodak’s Marine---Hillside Resort on Lake Madison and the Hodne Family for their incredible support.
Crabtree and Kotten were among the leaders who circulated the necessary work to get the boating safety in South Dakota---to eventually before a law. The parents of the young lady that was killed---have been helpful----and boating safety courses will be taught beginning June 14th—and the new law for boating safety in South Dakota goes into effect on July 1st.
We’ll do our best to educate with our Business and Agri Business shows right up to July 1st. I really can’t swim---but I want others to learn to swim---ride the ski-s on the South Dakota Water---and never again be a sub-standard position on what is safe on the waters in South Dakota.
Nolan Clarke---Plains Commerce Bank—gave us the important conversation---from the PLANNERS---and yes they take care of those in business, agriculture, and all ages. Eight banks---they take time to make a difference---and we are proud to have them of sponsors of our It’s YOUR Business and Agri Business Shows.
Sarah Heinrich---KFGO Fargo gave us the Growing Harvest Network update. Matt Swenson---had the morning commodities-----and Wall Street update.
Featured in our show was the interview of the Mother who lost her daughter on the lake—Stacy Gorman. We’ll continue to follow this trail to make sure everyone that we can talk to –and those that heard it can share with others. Obviously the importance of taking Water Safety courses beginning on June 14----and the new law going into effect on July 1st.
Lisa Ottmar---who works the HELPLINE –shared with us a big event this weekend----yes it does tie to suicide deaths---and Lisa has been good to remind us thru the years and from event to event—to make sure people understand we have tell them they are important and they matter. Coming up in September another run across the state of South Dakota.
Justin Glisin---Iowa State Climatologist—talked to us about the smokey skies---- the moisture---the temperatures---and all that he is doing with Laura Edwards—the South Dakota State Climatologist. With all the very good meteorologists we have to follow—the climatologists give us a different degree of credibility and we are always happy to have them talk to our audience.
Listen live to the show at 1320, 105.1, 107.9----use the KELO App. Norm Anderson posts the show blog---my job is to schedule the guests –prepare them to go on the air—and even ask the questions.
