Blog—June 11, 2025—10-11—It’s YOUR Agri Business

Our It’s YOUR Agri Business and It’s YOUR Business Show has joined the posse this week sharing the Lake Madison story—with the loss of a 12 year old girl—who was hit and eventually died as a result of being hit on the waters—2 years ago.

The family---mom, dad, and sister have talked with us—along with those trying to make a change in the State Water Laws—that would allow a moving water vehicle that hit and claimed the life of Emmy.

The legislature voted and changed the water law---effective July 1st---not only Lake Madison –but all across South Dakota’s water-ways.

Businesses---legislators---have talked about why this change has to happen—and on Saturday June 14th--- it’s a special information day to get people educated on what the new law will mean.

South Dakota Game Fish and Parks is involved—Kip Rounds joined us on the air---and told what they are doing and encourage all that can to spent time training---or to learn what the new law will entail.

Casey Crabtree talked with as did one time Lake County Sheriff Tim Walberg. Larry Kotten has been our go-to-walking-why for the listeners and for me. On this day—we used conversations in both the 9:00 and 10:00 hour—and will do more the same on Friday.

I have to say---for many of the guests who have been in the show this week—and for me the host---I have shed more than one tear for the situation. Other very big---well respected guests have shed tears as well. I can’t swim---and don’t do much on the water---but I would do anything for this family---and others that could be at risk without the law change in South Dakota.

So what else was in the show----Brent Baloun—Plains Commerce Bank shared what the Planners do---farmers, businesses, young or married couples---they help and will be available at stops around South Dakota and neighboring states this summer.

Sarah Heinrich—had the Growing Harvest Report---Matt Swenson—the Morning Commodities----

Also in the show---Minnehaha County Sheriff Mike Milstead---my wife Carolyn had received a piece of mail this week sharing that she could lose her license---if she didn’t pay for violating a law in Texas a year or two ago. We didn’t know for sure if it was really something that was a violation---or a scam that just wanted to get her to respond---and then would have more information they could use to steal—to scam—and do what we are seeing a lot of everywhere.

The Sheriff said he had received what turned out to be a threatening letter and he knew to ignore it---or he could have been deeper in the clutches of the scammers.

Those were some of the surprising highlights in the show---that probably had more to chew on—then others---but the information will help our listeners.

Listen live to the show at 1320, 105.1, 107.9---use the KELO App—streaming on line or just ask Alexa.

Norm Anderson posts the show as a PODCAST---my job is to schedule the guest—even add the guests as we go along or pre-plan the questions unless it is a breaking news event—like we were seeing this morning.

Use the Blog—as a guide to who was in the show----and have some general information to follow. Questions for me—feel free to call/text at 605-728-BILL (2455) or email me at bill.zortman@mwcradio.com
