Blog—July 9, 2025—10-11—It’s YOUR Agri Business

Our 10-11---It’s YOUR Agri Business Show—took you—our audience down the road—in quite the scenarios.

Larry Kotten---who helped lead an army of leaders thru the death of a 13 year old girl who was hit by a moving vehicle 3 years ago on Lake Madison. Over the last few weeks we have put a star on the story—as we relived how the family lost the daughter—the mom joined a few times, the dad and the little sister. All along with those of us in the studio cried about what happened—all with the hopes that the legislation passed in Pierre on water safety would make a difference beginning on July 1st this year.

Casey Crabtree was part of it as well--- Mr. Wallberg---and merchants helped us tell the story—and we were able to engage South Dakota Game Fish and Parks to help with education---and yes even encourage people across the State to please observe the new age limit—and safety rules.

Indeed as Larry explained—it was a safer feel at Lake Madison---and there was an understanding that we need to look closer to neighboring states---that have been observing grown up standards and safety for years.

Chris Bartmann—with Gingerich Structures talked with us about how they are helping clients avoid costly mistakes—and we talked about how to save customers money—and get the job done quicker and smarter. In the future we’ll talk with some of the customers that have worked with Chris and Gingerich about how it worked for them and can work for listeners as well.

Nolan Clarke—Plains Commerce Bank—talked to us about the so-called but unrealistic Big Beautiful Bill for farmers and many more. They can talk you  thru what you need to know—as well as help you plan today, tomorrow and beyond.

Matt Swenson---Swenson Commodities—gave us a mid-day look at the morning farm prices—and yes what the Big Board on Wall Street was doing. They can help you with a call from early morning to late afternoon.

Danita Murray—South Dakota Corn shared what she is seeing in the fields and the plans to take along 8-9 delegates to an important Corn Congress in DC next week. Danita was seeing growing corn and will work with us to report direct from DC next week.

Jerry Schmitz---South Dakota Soybean---gave us the bean business and what they are looking like. Jerry is just back from some treatments at Mayo---but we are happy to have him engage us on our It’s YOUR Agri Business show.

With the importance of Rural Health Care—we repeated for the convenience of the audience—Dr. Tim Ridgeway sharing with us the new crop of 71 would be doctors who start later this month. He explains that a large proportion of the students are from communities of 10,000 population or less. We will make room for a handful of them to join us throughout the school year—and tell us what they are learning—their hopes for health care in not only the towns 10,000 and under but all over the state.

Justin Glisin---Iowa State Climatologist joined us sharing what to expect this week---was it wetter there in recent weeks—and what he seeing in the corn and bean fields.
