  Day after the 4th-It’s YOUR Agri Business show---lots of ground covered—and yes news that people should consider.
  We launched the Ag Show –with Darren Hefty—AG PHD---with all the rain—the severe weather threats and fears---Darren took us thru it.
   Mr. Hefty talked to us about the corn and beans---that is good—but the abundance of grasshoppers isn’t.
   Just ahead---Hefty’s Ag PHD Field Day on the 25th----we follow along closely and help as they talk about who should come—and the call is answered by people all over South Dakota-neighboring states and foreign countries.
   Yes the scholarships and support is there---we follow that—and often talk to those that are winning. 
   Darren hosts the Sirius Farm Show---from his Baltic studio—that played all over this country and the world Friday’s in the 2PM hour. They learn something from this South Dakotan—who takes their calls and questions. And yes gives us a bright light from South Dakota in agriculture. Thank you Hefty’s.
   One of the big questions for the week---would there be 4th of July celebrations---severe weather put a short switch to those in Sioux Falls—but we did talk to others that are celebrating from Dell Rapids and Humboldt. 
   The guests-Sheldon Jensen—Community and Economics Development Director from Dell Rapids---and Kelly O’Gorman---from Humboldt. 2 weeks ago---Dell Rapids Celebrated their big event---and Main Street Days is coming this weekend in Humboldt. 
    What we talked about the Tyler Torgeson—is how the Sioux Metro Growth Alliance Works Together---and we are happy to help them. And yes we do. 
    We were able to reach our good friends from Sioux Falls---who talked about the scenario---that had people dropping out of the race----and the parade because of the threat of severe weather. The Mayor---Paul Ten Haken took time this morning to explain to us what he was doing 24 hours after the event—and why professional forecasters—like those on our TV Stations---and the National Weather Service were making the forecast---well –it didn’t happen but had the public pulling out and back.
    Thanks to those for sharing with us----and we did include it—with it being a holiday weekend—so the biggest audience could understand. As I shared---darned if you do and darned if you don’t. I’ve worked with Mayors in other cities that didn’t cancel with those kind of warnings swirling—and to answer those questions from the media---weren’t fun. Participants to this event—help tip the balance to cancel because of the threats. The Mayor trusts the forecasters---which included the TV side—and our State Climatologist—Laura Edwards weighed in as well on our show—about how the best meteorological call was made—but those forecasts are never 100%----this one turned out to change with the quickly changing weather patterns. 
     KFGO’s Sarah Heinrich—gave us the Growing Harvest Network report from Fargo---and Matt Swenson---Swenson Commodities reported on the numbers in the grain bins---the livestock side----and yes the Big Board on Wall Street.
     Each week we talk with the Sioux Falls Canaries---we interviewed Ali Gabriel before the 4th—and they did some more damage to their foes in Chicago---and upcoming in Lincoln. The Birds are flying---and Ali was right there “Pitching” what they are tossing---and in 2024---it’s a big win for all of us. The Birds are coming home before we visit with her next Friday. 
   Eric Pauli----Excell Energy ---talked about the dangers during this kind of weather. We discussed what to expect on the financial side—and even drifted back to what we saw 2 years ago on a College Campus in this area—with someone walking and losing their life from downed power lines. Our hope—people will make sure they are careful---and we won’t be talking about that 2 years from now.
   Alla ---our voice from Ukraine—who has been in this country for a long period of time—shared that her Cousin---who we have talked about before past away—he was fighting on the very front lines of the war last year. Obviously our prayers are with the family---and we chatted about the way so many from Ukraine have been working—not asking for a hand=out here in South Dakota. Alla continues to tell the stories each week---and one of the local TV stations will be following along with her—we are told in July. 
   Laura Edwards closed the show—looking back to what she had seen this week with the severe weather and what we might expect soon. Keep your eyes and ears on this changing July Weather Pattern.

Jessie Schmidt---BBB of South Dakota-----always gives us a look at what is out
There----and what we should be watching for. Jessie has been with us for a number of years—and we couldn’t be happier—to have us plugged in to those that don’t have our best interests in mind.

Traditionally in the 9:20 slot----Teri Schmidt---Experience Downtown Sioux Falls and Kip Rounds---SD Game Fish and Parks---are there to update with what is happening in their world. Teri with her husband Jim---has been in the Hills for a much needed break from the promotion routine---Kip---who was on the show Wednesday—giving us the latest information on lakes and water-ways---took some time with his family for the holiday. Both work hard for this and we are happy to give them whatever time they need. They are so dedicated to those people they serve---and they’ll be back next week.

9:32---Mayor Paul Ten Haken----and Downtown’s Joe Batchellor talked about the need to follow the advice of Meteorologists---here—and Climatologist State-wide that were concerned about the 4th of July events. In this case the parade—the fireworks—the foot race in Sioux Falls. They Mayor followed the professionals. Some complained that when it didn’t happen---experts should have waited longer. As the Mayor shared in his interview with us this morning---he did what he though was in best interests. I’ve been on the other side in many other communities---when leaders didn’t cancel-----with the kind of threats we saw here. It didn’t end well----when they tried to squeeze it in. Not easy to do---but when you had cancellations to the race---the parade---and businesses saying they wouldn’t risk it---he made the decision that he had to make.

Joe Batchellor---Downtown Sioux Falls was asked this morning to share other activities still available thru the long 4th of July Week. Those are still scheduled and he gave us an outline----of what you can do---now that the skies have cleared along with the risk. To make the audience could hear it---we ran the Mayor’s Segment and Mr. Batchellor’s segment in both the 9:00 and 10:00 hours.
   At 9:45---we talked with Ryan and Dave Austad—the Golf Family that were playing golf----as a team-----and sharing what is trending in merchandise---the Sanford International and the British Open---coming next weekend.
   They invited me to bring my driver to check out with them----how good it is in tests next week. Yes—I’ll do it that---but I am challenged enough I have two different drivers that I’ll hit—and let them test me. Getting to be a little older---I’m not afraid to meet the challenge---and report back.
     With the British Open Scottie Scheffler seems to be Ryan’s choice to win—the last Major of the Season----I have to feel the same way----if not Scheffler—one of the old Dogs that is trying to make 2024 a successful year.
     Can’t wait—and we’ll talk more next Friday.

   In this particular show—the day before July 4th—we were able to front end load the show with events happening in Sioux Falls and Smaller Communities for the Independence Day Celebration.
   Joe Batchellor gave us the runs---the events—how to be involved with the massive amount of stuff in Sioux Falls. 
    From the Sioux Metro Alliance---Tyler Torgeson covered 6 communities what they are doing and how it’s just as much a Holiday to observe as by the thousands in a bigger city. We asked Tyler to come back on Friday with 2 or 3 of the communities to explain what they did---and why it is so special to work together.
    Brent Baloun---Plains Commerce Bank—yes they are the PLANNERS—talked to us about the opportunity you have this holiday time to visit about your families planning for the future. We’ll also talked about the rest of the summer with the fairs, the farm shows—and opportunities for them to go out and about and make a difference.
     Sarah Heinrich shared the Growing Harvest Network---Matt Swenson the Morning Commodities-----and we had a chance to hear The Speaker of the House –yes the one from Watertown talk about what the Northeast Corner of South Dakota is going for not only the 4th---with construction—Harmony Hill Living and open and full, twin homes are going up---Worth Electronics is building a 70,000 sq ft North----In addition he has been doing summer studies with the legislature—real estate tax assessments and AI and internet access for minors. He did the Good Will Trip to Taiwan---and we walked away with good information from that creative section  of South Dakota. 
     SBA’s Bryson Patterson—and Corey Williams talked about the opening of a Business Recovered Center in Sioux Center. The center will provide a lone-stop location for businesses to access help. SBA customer service reps will be available to meet individually with each business owner. 
      Nice report as well from Excel Energy-----Eric Paulli talked with us about the summer heat---the floods and the fear that we all have that we could be in for some severe weather. We talked about the dangers and what to do---in essence don’t take any chances. 2 years ago we talked about what happened on a college campus when power lines claimed a life. Don’t have us talking about that in 2 years.
      Justin Glisan---Iowa Climatologist gave us a look at what to expect for the holiday week and weekend to follow. Hopefully we’ll get some breaks and it will be enjoyable.
