Blog---July 11, 2025—10-11—It’s  YOUR Agri Business—4900

Iowa Senator Joni Ernst---- Certainly quoted a lot nationwide—talked with us leading our show this morning----all the disagreements between Democrats and Republicans—concerns for the farmers, for the senior citizens, tariffs, hospitals, and more.

We set it up---we talked 8 minutes and we had a conversation that the audience was able to learn something from. Having grown up as my wife did in northwest Iowa---it was good to talk with her—have an old fashion discussion—and let the audience learn a few things as well.

Right behind---Congressman Dusty Johnson---was in my hometown of Hartford, South Dakota—there for the deployment ceremony for the Army Reserve 903rd Inland Cargo Transfer Company. Having been deployed years ago as a member of the Sioux City Air National Guard—those kind of ceremonies say thank you but you still have soldiers leaving home for military duty. We were happy to let Dusty salute them an hour before the event on our radio show--- while questioning him as part of the discussion—on what his constituents were wanting to know about farm issues, rural hospitals, and just where this country is going.

Of course the so called Big Beautiful Bill was discussed---and Dusty and I have always had a straightforward conversation—where I don’t just take the position of one party or the other—but re-enacted questions that his followers would want to know. We did talk about him wanting to become Governor----and what he sees ahead.

Darren Hefty—AG PHD followed--- he shared there are correct reports about drones flying over their Baltic home—spraying the tall corn---he talked about the dangerous Palmer pigweed---corn beginning to tassel—and it looks like their will be a healthy 3rd cutting of alfalfa. He is always generous—doing our show in the 10:00 hour on Friday—4 hours before he does his national Sirius Radio Show. He gets to warm up---our audience gets healthy information…and it makes for a big player in our ag broadcast audience.

Sarah Heinrich—had the Growing Harvest Network—she’s with our little sister station in Fargo—and is good at what she does. Matt Swenson ---Swenson Commodities had the morning mid-morning of course numbers---and how is patrons and others can get updated numbers from early morning or late afternoon.

Right behind Matt---was our friends from Blackburn Studios –yes the Protected Home discussion---what is in the home what are you finding. Kristi Merfeld and Zack—talked about it----as they now control the starting sound to the shows----was music from “This Ole House” perfect for what water is doing to it. Great conversation---and they are willing to answer our questions—for our listeners—and be helpful to a lot of good homeowners.

Mr. Tree—John Ball----talked about all the things he’s been asked—what he sees----and we talked about the emerald ash borer---and Milbank vs communities in southern South Dakota. Concerns are there—and Tree explained what we would see and when.
