Blog—January 3, 2025—9-10—It’s YOUR Business
It’s another year—from our Friday Friends---in an hour long show that gets to cover a lot of what has happened and then the setting of the stage for what is scheduled to happened.
Sounds like old times to me---Sanford with another merger announcement----the marriage with Minnesota and Sanford---was well intended---but didn’t work—now we turn to Wisconsin---Jodi Schwan---got the briefing on Thursday and we’ll ask what her gut is on this event.
Players in the mix---Irish Pub closed but for home low, the outlook for 2025 what’s good, what’s questionable, and what will be the biggest game changer?
We’ll talk about the SF Photography at the Airport—businesses found ways to give employees time off for Christmas and the end of the year.
Jodi will have a feeling about “how solid”—Retail holiday season was. And we always know there will be another story or two that is “late breaking” with Jodi Schwan.
Teri Schmitz---BBB of South Dakota----she has an organization that helps her understand the kind of scams and shams that are out there. We love to get her to share on Friday---and as she has learned thru the years---if I have a question for our audience—or even for me----I’m not afraid to bother her. Kind of like me—when somebody suggests this or that---I try to find out. Little things are said that make us throw our hands up----like the one my wife heard this week-----from a health insurance agent who said---no we don’t have tell you if we filed paid or refused to pay to a health care entity you used. My first reaction was WHAT—I thought you were in business to take care of your clients. Shame on that company----shame on the doctors or health organization allowing that---
Having served as a TV ombudsman answering consumer questions and concerns---each day----I have a general understanding what Teri goes thru helping us all understand.
Kip Rounds---GAME Fish and PARKS—talks about the year that was ---how was the winter pheasant hunt---what should we know about the South Dakota Outdoors Season of 2024----and what’s ahead for 2025?
Teri Schmidt---Experience Sioux Falls will update us on the year that just ended---bright spots and what could be even brighter in 2025? Of course on the State Level it will be a different game with Governor Noem—now playing cops and aliens along the border. What will Kristi’s past economic development endeavors and welcoming style be like with a new Governor Larry Rhoden---new ideas---too? Events for 2025 in Sioux Falls—what should we look to ---and what can our listeners do to make those that come to visit---comfortable and want to return? It’s a whole new year—and yes a whole new day-time welcoming.
Late in 2024---Sioux Falls needed to change gears with Downtown Sioux Falls –and Brandon Hansen is in play. Each Friday we ask him to give us a look at what is happening in Sioux Falls for the weekend---and all seven days a week –like the best beef recipe served as the restaurants. As I traveled around and watched and heard stations do the welcoming thing---I have no doubt we can learn from them—and we can do it better. Our people want the visitors to come see us.
We checked with Jimmy Ohlander—the Sioux Falls Stampede----what the ice-men are doing---and what the fans can see in the days ahead. As Jimmy shared—the Stampede returned after a dozen days off and have played---at a pace that has others in the league concerned about this year’s team. Still some home games ahead and now that we have turned the corner into 2025----the fans will have a chance or two –to say---oh wow!!!
Mike Constanzo has a Gun Show at the WH Lyon Fairgrounds---Saturday and Sunday---This event is referred to as THE BIG ONE—thousands of people attend the event annually to see, sell, buy or trade guns and equipment.
The event is sponsored by the Dakota Territory Gun Collector’s Association—which sponsors this huge event---a non-profit organization. They encourage and regularly support firearm education and gun safety programs for youth. Doors opened January 4th and 5th at 9am---at the Fairgrounds---and the cost of admission is $10.00.
We always like the fact that Mike works with youth who wouldn’t be able to have the opportunity to hunt---they are shown the safe ways to do it---and it can be life changer.
Diana Patterson---Sanford Career Opportunities joins us on most Friday’s—today the opportunity you shared was COMPLIANCE.
