   Rocky Forman---who traditionally does and helps schedule for monthly Farmers Union Show—is working with me for the State Convention--

   Good morning to you---I know that we are talking about the annual Convention for South Dakota Farmers Union---and we try to make the trip as often as possible.

   With all that is so serious in Agriculture right now---it just made sense for us to be in Huron on Wednesday----9-11….

 , l will be interviewing via cell phone  Stephen Hall – Export Control Regulations Officer in the Bureau of Industry and Security that is within the US the US Department of Commerce.  Below are the questions that I will be asking Steve.

 

  1. I have a potential customer located overseas. How do I know if this company is legitimate or not ?

 

  1. I have heard that certain products that I want to sell overseas may require permission from the US Government. How do I find out if what we produce needs a license and if so, what agency does this and how long does it take ?

 

  1. Are there certain countries that I should not sell to ?

 

4.Is there an official way that I can get a determination if I need an export license or not ? I do not want to violate any export regulations .

 

  1. Are there any “red flags” or indicators that a South Dakota business should be aware of a suspicious potential sale even if it is a domestic sale ?
