I’m Bill Zortman and welcome to It’s YOUR Business---the last day before and two shows before I take a week off to spend time with my wife Carolyn and some other friends. Show 50-63---

We have decided to have a number of guests that join us on a regular basis to be part of the show….

We start with Tyler Tordsen---Sioux Metro Growth Alliance----who got more notoriety in our Friday show and helped us visit with a number of 17 or so communities that work together. It is a special scenario-----and even Commercial Real Estate’s Ron Nelson talked about it in our Friday Show—the event that he attended---and how he finds what they are doing very special and good for not only the smaller communities---but the entire area.

Tyler—you will have a couple of communities joining us this morning----and it is a chance for us to learn what you do, how you do it----and who else may want to become a part of the Sioux Metro might----

----------------Tyler-----

Your event last week---and which community you want to salute and engage us with this morning-----

Casey Crabtree who will be a part and leading the 2026—Legislative Session next month is with us----as we move closer---what should we know and why will the session carry such wait for our friends in South Dakota----

-------------------Casey----------------

Discussions---what will be the bottom line of the 2026 Session--------particularly in an election year----

-------------------Casey-----------------

We’ll talk more in the 10:00 hour-----and appreciate your expertise and looking ahead---

When we come back we’ll visit with one of those teachers that has been making a difference in the 2025-2026---school year---stay with us

9:20/00—KELO Commercials

9:22/30---Business 3

Jen McKeown----students and teachers—

Please share an update on the way you have been thanking teachers---with some cash—and the reactions you have received-----

   ------------Jen--------

Story or two about teachers nominated and thanked—

--------------Jen--------

What else do you see ahead---

Levo is offering a way for people to give back to their teachers----it is thru the Adopt a Classroom Program—Levo Credit Union is awarding $500 each to 8 teachers nominated by parents, students or community members as making a huge impact on kids---

--------why teachers---

It’s part of Levo’s History—in 1982—the teachers Credit Union joined Levo and many teachers are still members. Our community has made us what we are today and we believe in giving back to our community. What better way to do that than to recognize the teachers who lay the foundation of our future by shaping the young minds of our kids---

How are you taking the nominations---

------we are very slow—last year LEVO received a record 98 nominations for educators across our service area—including Sioux Falls, Sioux City, Harrisburg, Brondon, Watertown, Montrose and Wessington Springs—but this year at last count we heard you had received only 18---

What is the deadline for nominations----(December 26, 2025)

Just ahead more story lines that we live by and learn from following—Fox Business News

9:30/30---Fox Biz News

9:32/30---Business 4((605-212-6959)))

Jordan Deffenbaugh has joined us he is the AFSCME Council Labor Representative---

They are hosting their 2nd Working Families Legislative Forum on January 10-11—running from 1-3 both days the Labor Temple—101 S Fairfax Avenue in Sioux Falls

The event is free to attend—food is provided—childcare is avail able and its family-friendly—walk-ins are welcome but RSVP’s are preferred so they plan for food and materials

---why timing matters—

The 2026 Legislative Session –it starts on January 13th—just 3 days after the Sunday session ends. This timing in intentional to influence early bills when legislators are setting their priorities

SD currently has over $140 million in budget surplus available for strategic investment—bills move fast once session starts so they need people ready to engage with legislators in immediately.

Top priorities from the November forums

   Healthcare—9% identified as top priority

Housing Affordability 69% share the housing costs are the biggest constraint on household budgets. The Governor’s House Program has delivered 3,300+homes since 1996—but currently has a 3 year waitlist showing demand far exceeds capacity

Childcare---as Economic Infrastructure –63%--child care costs are exceeding rent for many families, forcing impossible choices between jobs and caring for children

   What about some innovative solutions-----

===============================================

-------------Tyler---a little earlier we talked about the event you had last week that caught the attention of Ron Nelson---Nelson Commercial Real Estate---and it certainly always has people from Banks—Builders ---saying good things as well---

---------you  have a guest for this segment---let me know what you think—and who it is—and where you go from here thru the end of the 2025---year—

9:55/55—KELO Commercials

9:57/30---Business

We are doing some of the best of our guests this morning what they have brought to the table—and what exactly we may see in the 2026 Legislative Session—communities working together----plus planting a few sees---

-------------a Reminder—because of the close of the year---and the fact that I haven’t taken my vacation time---I will be doing that starting tomorrow---- I’ll be back on the air December 23rd----looking to not only finish the year—but what 2026 can bring to all of us.

This was a big year---we talked to a lot of guests---and did our show 5,000—Congressman Dusty Johnson but us in the Halls of Congress with all of our shows—and we know that what he does—and how he does it---is special. Before that I did 5,000 TV Newscasts collective from a number of states-----and now I’ve got some leaders in South Dakota—that want to do more with what we have done as an audience—and we will be working on that in early 2026.

For now—our time is up—Thank you for yours…
