Welcome back to It’s YOUR Business---It’s a Friday----and we’re happy to have you with us-------

Brandon Hanson – has worked his wit and writing skills to attract people with a calendar of events for Downtown Sioux Falls---and he shared the list for our show today

in my business—providing the information to help our followers plan and enjoy is what I’ve done for 5,300 shows ---I work in Sioux Falls---and wanted you to know where to look for the events---and if you couldn’t look I would take with the blessings of the paper---time from the show—to include it for you listeners.

To me that is important----- and so is his list of events for this weekend

Here’s a quick look at the weekend ahead in Downtown Sioux Falls. We’re getting into the back half of August, which means there are only so many summer weekends left. Fortunately, Downtown is making the most of them.

Friday

We’ll start over the lunch hour with AMPT Downtown, presented by Xcel Energy. We’re nearing the end of the 2026 season, so if you haven’t made it out yet, now is the time. Landon Weis performs Friday from 11:30 to 1:00 at The Steel District. Grab lunch from one of the restaurants there and enjoy some free local music outside.

You can also find Fridays on the Plaza from 11:30 to 1:30 at the 12th Street Plaza. Summer lunch outdoors is on borrowed time, so take advantage of it.

Friday night, Deep Blue Something takes the stage at Levitt at the Falls at 7:00. If that name immediately puts “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” in your head, you know exactly who I’m talking about. It’s a pretty incredible opportunity to see a nationally known band for free, right here in Downtown Sioux Falls.

Saturday

Saturday morning, AMPT is back from 11:30 to 1:00 at Phillips Avenue Plaza, this time featuring Blue Moon Rhythm. Again, totally free and right in the middle of Downtown.

For families, I also want to call out the State Theatre. They’re celebrating their 100th year in 2026, and Saturday at 11:00 a.m. they're showing the original 1994 Disney classic The Lion King as part of their STATE100 series. That's a pretty great way to introduce the kids to both a classic movie and one of Downtown's most historic spaces.

Saturday night

Dustbowl Revival takes over Levitt at 7:00 with their blend of Americana and roots music. That’s another free show and another easy excuse to spend your evening at Falls Park.

 Anytime this weekend

Here’s something you can do completely on your own schedule:

Sculpture Walk.

The 2026 sculptures have been up all summer, so take a walk down Phillips Avenue, explore the collection, and pick your favorite. Public voting for the People’s Choice Award runs from May through September, with the winning artist receiving a cash prize and special recognition from Sculpture Walk.

It's one of those Downtown experiences we sometimes take for granted because it's always there. You don't need a ticket or a reservation. Grab a coffee, ice cream, lunch or dinner, walk a few blocks and you've essentially got an outdoor art gallery running through the heart of the city.

     And one important Downtown update

After a couple of months of construction, we're getting very close to seeing 8th Street at Weber Avenue reopen. The City's latest published construction schedule has that portion of the project targeted for completion around mid-August.

That's especially good news for the businesses in that area that have been navigating construction all summer.

So when that road opens back up, let's make a point of going back. Stop into Roots of Brasil and the other businesses along that corridor that have missed some of their normal traffic over the past couple of months. Construction is necessary, but it can be tough on a small business. One of the easiest things we can do is show up when those orange cones finally disappear.

There’s plenty more happening than I could possibly fit in here. You can always build out your weekend at dtsf.com/events.

---We appreciate Brandon sharing the notes---so we could help you understand what’s ahead over the next week…

------------There are sports events as well---Brian Jamros—and the Sioux Falls Canaries---we like to check in on these birds----

---------Bring us up to date---and share what is ahead this weekend and beyond….

------------Brian-------------------

---when we come back we’ll hear from Cat Clark----and from Tyler Tordeson---and all that is the Sioux Metro Alliance with their 17 or so communities---working together…
