Blog—April 29, 2024—9-10—It’s YOUR Business
Variety of guests----in our last Monday of April.

   ---FINANCE----

Gary Popkes and Cameo Anders—Plains Commerce Bank started the day out---talking about:
Now that April 15th is behind us—you may want to set up a meeting with financial advisor or tax-prepared—a third choice—your legal counsel to talk moving forward
Discuss Assets you have that should be sold
Portfolios out-of-balance/overweighting a position you should have
Best plan for you to dispose of assets---with tax consequences –and maybe sale of appreciated stock over time
Consider gifting----could be estate tax exemption sunset----
Should you meet with your attorney or your accountant

Cameo shared the estate side of it----and of course I bring up making sure you plug your family in----trying to avoid surprises ---

IN essence PLAN—DON’T Do It Alone----and think about it for the long haul.

9:18---we talked with Corey Johnson—Johnson Construction---Corey is an old friend---and we have talked about what they do—and how they do it----making sure those that ask for help get it.

I was surprised to hear him say that he is actually helping the 6th construction student with his finances –getting the education that will put him or her on the street-in our communities---helping people that want “Can do-Will do-people”

They are good people—Corey was raised right---and I’m happy that we are working together again. Johnson Construction IS a FAMILY Business---and they do commercial construction as well---along with not only in the big city but in the country.

9:32—we talked Amy Drummond who is working with CTE Students to receive hands-on-experience at Mock-Mass Casualty Training in a special exercise this Friday.

Students at the Career and Technical Education Academy will be participating in a community Mass-Casualty Simulation Exercise this Friday
Healthcare-related classes at CTE will have the opportunity to work alongside the Sioux Falls Police Department, Fire Department and Patient Care EMS Ambulance Service in disaster preparedness.

Get this –it will include a mock tornado, a mock plane crash, and a semi-vs building crash with one emergency scenario occurring in each student block.

The plan is to give students a realistic and challenging-but not overwhelming, scenario with expert assistance in executing the best course of paction for each “patient”.

CTE students from other programs will serve as actors to play mock victims to enhance the realism of the exercise. Members of the media are invited  too—we’ll see who shows up ---and who covers it.

Training scenarios will be occurring all day—police cars—fire trucks and ambulances will be stationed at the building thru the day.

As media we are suppose to spread the word to decrease any confusion that a “real” emergency may be occurring---

40 CTE students will be participating and 60 others will be playing victims.

We’ll try to do some cut-ins during the 9- 11 hours on Friday.

9:45---Tyler Tordsen----our leader with Sioux Metro was with us today---and Harrisburg’s Brice Heally---talking about the working together plan is going. Centerville-did win the State-wide award for all they are doing---Coming up----they will have their annual Minnehaha County Bus Tourin May—Golf Classic in June----and tons of opportunities for folks to get to know the organization or join in the fun.

To me this a unite scenario for our little country town communities. Sioux Falls and Mayor Paul Ten Haken---are promoters----and this is a can do plan that will be copied—if hasn’t already been copied.

I did ask Sioux Metro—to select a “My Little Country Town” individual winner each month. It’s something we are promoting in not only South Dakota but neighboring states. We’ll look and see how it goes---and of course—Tyler and Brice asked that people get out and vote for the Municipal Elections. Small turnouts can be a plague---

Listen to our show at 1320, 105.1, 107.9—and use the KELO-app or streaming on line. Norm Anderson will post the show in the 9-10 hour—on the same day----

Use these notes as a guide to what is in the show—and where. The Blog---gives you times and a bit more information.
