Blog—April 10, 2024-9-10---Working on Wellness Wednesday
Quite the Working on Wellness Wednesday Show---and we heard from health situations that need our attention—even if we had to use the word Vaping being a threat.

Joining us Molly Satter-Health Services Coordinator for the Sioux Falls School District and Shelby Kommes---Public Health Prevention Coordinator for the Sioux Falls Health Department.

The concern and it should strike many of us to keep our eyes open---developing conversations with our young people about VAPING.

Simply “ONE PUFF THAT’s ALL It Takes. We should applaud the Sioux Falls School District and other schools and organizations that are joining the fight against the nationwide trend of increased use of vaping products by youth—sadly some as young as 8 to 10 are being hooked.

Sioux Falls Health Department along with the School District(s) are launching “Break the Clouds” campaign adding prevention and education resources for students and families, schools the greater community.

With tobacco giants using fruit and candy=flavored nicotine cartridges to target youth—the temptation is really “real”.

US Food and Drug Administration’s report in 2022 was that over 3 million high school and middle school students have used tobacco products in the last 30 days. “Break the Clouds” is an attention-grabbing campaign featuring the stories vaping truths in Sioux Falls. Along with videos, a website and posters, “quit cards” will be available in schools when a student faces discipline for having a vaping device.

The Vape Free Me Initiative focuses on the harmful effects of vaping on the developing brain. Researchers say vaping can harm the parts of the brain that control attention, learning, mood and impulse control---all very much integral elements that support learning and success in school.
“It’s Alarming”. Students share they can’t make it thru an entire school day without vaping because they’re so addicted.
Superintendent Dr. Jane Stavem shares its crucial for children to be in school to learn and with the support of community partners---we can help them break free.
Our Working on Wellness Wednesday’s will continue to work with the two groups that brought this idea before the media—and us bringing it to you. As we approach the summer vacation---we will help alert all concerned—and those that should be ---that this is a serious time for all of us.

Jessie Schmidt---BBB of South Dakota shared with us an event that is now just 10 days away—it’s April 20th—Shred Event----8 to noon a week from Saturday---

Suggested donations $5 per box or bag---net proceeds benefit that Sioux Empire Crime Stoppers Program which gives cash rewards to help law enforcement fight crime, remain anonymous and receive awards.

It will again be a Touchless event—you can stay in your vehicle and have the items you would like shredding in the Backseat or truck of your car.

Jesse will share how this got started---the reaction from the public  is not only helping Sioux Empire Crime Stoppers but ridding themselves of what they would like to get rid of.

It’s a project that helps our listeners---and for me having helped Crime Stoppers get started in Amarillo, Albuquerque, and El Paso---I enjoy helping them here---over the past few years.

Dr. Allen Unruh was with us this morning—and while he continues to work hard on neuropathy---he has added “Contour Light”—the only light that is FDA Cleared to guarantee to reduce inches in the human body and reduce Chronic Pain.

Reports show that the contour light is the most powerful light in the world. Several flexible panels cover the entire body from the face, the arms, the back, the chest, the stomach and lower back as well as hip and leg areas.

So how does it work----all poison is stored in fat. This light penetrates the fats cells of the internal organs—the liver-the heart-the spleen, the kidneys, as fat builds up around all the organs. All poison is stored in fat. When the light penetrates the internal organs, the fat will melt like butter outside the cell membrane of the cells.

With this process in just 25 minutes the average person will lose 2-5 inches of fat and the most is 11 inches in one visit. To lose that much you would have to jog 33 miles. (NO THANK YOU)

Diabetes is a concern—current states—39 million people have Diabetes---89 million have pre-diabetes---if the trend continues 80% of people will develop diabetes—use to be one in four died of cancer---then it went to one in three—now its 50%. People are having heart attacks and strokes at a younger and younger age.

In essence processed foods is not a healthy way to lose weight.  Dr. Unruh can gest the thyroid, adrenal gland, metabolic index, inflammatory index, vitamin D levels. What we wants you to know that junk food industries spend millions support the American Heart Association, Diabetic Association and Cancer Society. I essence to get the donations they don’t bite the hand that feeds them.

We closed the show with Wendy Dooley----Help Line----not just Sioux Falls but everywhere. We always talk about who can call the HELP LINE---and it’s not just Sioux Falls. We work the problems from Dr. Flamboe in the Hills to Wendy Dooley in Sioux Falls. They do good work.
