This month marks the 175th anniversary of the Mormon Battalion. This group of 500 Latter-day Saints traveled all the way from Kansas to San Diego, California to help in the war effort against Mexico. But why are we still talking about them almost 2 centuries later? And what can we learn from their sacrifice? Elder D. Todd Christofferson of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Mormon Battalion Association President Greg Christofferson, and composer Marden Pond address those questions and preview an event honoring the battalion this weekend.
