But alongside that lived a quieter identity: the good girl who wanted everyone seen and supported, who would dim herself, so others felt comfortable. For years she could activate her voice instantly on behalf of other people, stepping into injustice without a second thought, yet found she didn't have full access to that same voice for herself. The night at eighteen when her father gently asked enough questions that she finally let the weight out and felt lighter for sharing pain from her heart for the first time.
