October is getting closer, and getting healthy at the right time may matter as much as anything that happens in the standings.

On this episode of Injury Territory, Will Carroll and Edward Egros check in on Aaron Judge’s impending return to the Yankees and what New York can realistically expect as its biggest star gets back on the field. We also look at George Lombard Jr.’s knee and how the Yankees can manage one of their most important young players without turning a short-term problem into a long-term one.

The Atlanta Braves have spent much of the season dealing with injuries, but somehow they’ve kept finding answers. Will and Edward examine what Atlanta did right, what other organizations can learn from it, and why depth and injury management become increasingly important as the postseason approaches. Meanwhile, the Arizona Diamondbacks may be getting their rotation healthy at exactly the right moment. Is this good fortune, good planning, or a little of both?

The featured conversation is with Brittany Dowling, MS, Director of Biomechanics at Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush and a director of the American Baseball Biomechanics Society. Dowling has spent years studying pitching mechanics, joint loading and the relationship between movement, performance and injury, including extensive work with professional pitchers.   Will and Brittany dig into what modern biomechanics can actually tell us about a baseball player, how motion-capture data has evolved, where biomechanics can help identify injury risk, and where the science still has limitations.

It’s a conversation about moving beyond simply saying a delivery “looks good” or “looks dangerous” and toward understanding what the data actually measures—and how teams, clinicians and athletes can turn that information into better decisions.

If you’re searching for Aaron Judge injury updates, Yankees injury news, George Lombard Jr. injury, Braves injuries, Diamondbacks rotation news, MLB playoff injuries, Brittany Dowling, baseball biomechanics, pitching mechanics, motion capture, pitching injury risk, sports medicine, baseball analytics, or return-to-play analysis, Injury Territory goes beyond the injury report to explain what the information actually means.
