Hour 1: The Power of the Old, Rugged Cross

Published Mar 21, 2025, 9:40 PM

Penal substitutionary atonement, the words are as big as their importance! On In The Market with Janet Parshall we talked to a respected bible teacher who explained the importance of these words to the lives of believers and why Christ’s death on the cross satisfied God’s wrath toward sin and created the path to eternal salvation. We all have things pulling us in different directions, sucking up our time and our energy as we struggle to advance incrementally in our tasks. But our guest explained that there is another way to use our life and precious time by pouring our efforts into discovering and pursuing our true calling. From the difference between demon possession and oppression to the power of prayer, we once again turned to our expert on spiritual warfare to answer your most intriguing and challenging questions. A well-known and highly respected apologist joined us for an important conversation about the supernatural world and God’s final authority over it. As we end the week it is time to pull the curtain back on some of the biggest headlines of the week to show you how to find the truth behind the rhetoric.

Hi friend! Thank you so much for downloading this podcast of In the Market with Janet Parshall, and I sincerely hope you hear something that will encourage you, edify you, enlighten you, equip you, and then we'll get you out the door into the marketplace of ideas. But before you go, let me tell you a little bit about this month's truth tool. It's written by a man who is a chronic doubter. Doctor Bobby Conway was a Christian, and after years he began doubting his own faith. As a result of that, he's come out now stronger, fully committed to the validity and the truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ, but keenly aware of the kinds of questions that chronic doubters ask. So in his book, Does Christianity Still Make sense? Doctor Conway does a superb job of telling us how we can answer 20 of the most difficult questions you and I will ever be asked about Christianity. Questions like why are there so many scandals in the church? And aren't Christians just a bunch of hypocrites? And why does God allow evil in the world? Is there really reliable evidence for the existence of God? This is a must read for everyone who wants to know how to contend for the faith when they get out there in the marketplace of ideas. This is this month's truth tool, and it's my way of saying thank you. When you give a gift of any amount to in the market with Janet Parshall, just call 877 Janet 58. Hi, friends. Welcome to In the Market with Janet Parshall. A very happy Friday to you. So glad we're going to spend the hour together. And if you are a regular listener, you know I'm not alone this hour. Mr. Craig Parshall is joining me. This is a man who understands the law. He's been litigating in the courts of American jurisprudence for years and years. But what I especially appreciate about him is not just his legal acumen, of which I have been the personal beneficiary for decades, but he also understands the book of the law, and he understands the Word of God and knows how to apply it to the world around us. And that's exactly what Fridays are all about. We take a look at the stories making headlines, but then we take out those those glasses. In some cases, it's binoculars. I'm hoping it'll move where you and I are taking glasses and putting them on, not binoculars. Why do I say that? Because I want that word to be up close and personal for you, not far away. And we apply it to the world around us. And so we go pretty fast, and we look at some of the issues that are being discussed in the marketplace of ideas, and figure out whether or not it comes into alignment with God's Word or whether or not what's being posited by campaigners out there is truth or false. And we learn to discern, and we really and truly learn to apply the whole truth of the gospel of the gospel to the whole world around us. And we're so glad that you joined us on Fridays to do just that. Let me just quickly remind you that March, believe it or not, is rapidly coming to an end, and at the end of the month, we turn the page and we pick another truth tool. This month's truth tool is Does Christianity make sense? Now, this was written by Doctor Bobby Conway, who went through a period of his life where many have where he started really questioning his faith. And so he started asking a lot of important questions like, Is Jesus really the only way? Why are there so many scandals in the church? The list goes on and on and on. And what's wonderful about this book is it isn't just his story of how he went from skeptic to be solidly in alignment with the Word of God and walking closely with his Savior, but it teaches us how to answer the questions of skeptics. Maybe you're a skeptic right now and you need an answer to a question in your life, so let me encourage you to get a copy of Does Christianity Still Make sense? It's yours for a gift of any amount because we are listener supported. Radio. Just call 877 Janet 58. That's 877. Janet 58. Pledge a gift of any amount. We'll send you a copy of Does Christianity still make sense or go online to in the market with Janet parshall.org in the market with Janet And a partial.org. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and there's the cover of the book. Click on through Make Your Gift and we'll send it to you. While you're there, consider becoming a partial partner. Those are people who support the program every single month. You always get the truth tool. You get a weekly newsletter that contains my writing and an audio piece just for my partial partners. So that's your choice. Thank you in advance. 877 Janet 58 or in the market with Janet parshall.org. Craig, we're going to start with the story of this. The astronauts here. You know, it's always good to know that you're right dead center in the middle of God's will. And I can tell you with absolute assurance and total peace that God has never and will never call me to be an astronaut. So I think you're safe there. I'm snuggled into the dead center of his will. Never gave me that desire. Never opened those doors. Never led me that way. Thank you Lord. So I watch these people and I think, boy, courage, bravery. I mean, going where no one's gone before for into the new frontier. And I mean, it's just amazing. It holds an interest to every single one of us, for particularly of us as believers, because you look out there and you realize that the Bible tells us that even the heavens declare the glory of God and that he not only made the stars, the Bible tells us he names the stars. So I think it's fascinating. I don't believe for one instant we're going to know everything there is to know about space, because his thoughts are far above us. I can tell you that one of my thoughts is that I truly believe that part of the expanse of the universe is to remind us how great God is, and that great God who made that great expansive universe is the one who knows the number of hairs on my head. Now, how's that for sovereign Lord? And yet the unconditional lover of my soul. So really and truly, I'm fascinated by these stories. But I'll tell you what I love it when people give or have given a platform, and they use it to proclaim the glory of God without blush, embarrassment, or hesitation. So here's the background on the story. If you're not into space stories, there were two long delayed Starliner astronauts that fellow by the name of Butch Will Whitmore. His real name is Barry and Sunita Williams. They came back to Earth aboard a SpaceX Crew Dragon capsule Tuesday of this week. Now didn't happen with the government. Didn't happen through NASA. It came back through private enterprise, like him or not. You've got to admit that Elon Musk really and truly is someone who wants to push out the frontiers of all kinds of things. Some of them are great, some of them maybe not so great. But certainly his idea with SpaceX ended up rescuing some people who were up in space for far too long, 286 days. They were supposed to be there for eight days. Does that put it in perspective? They rode home with two outgoing space station crew crewmates. They were crew nine commander Nick Hague and Russian cosmonaut Alexander Gorbunov. So 17 hours after undocking from the International Space Station, you'll hear it in the news as the ES. The Crew Dragon settled to a gentle on target splashdown off Florida's Gulf Coast near Tallahassee. At 5:57 p.m. Eastern Standard Time, and there was a cheer that went up in the control room, believe me. So the SpaceX recovery ship was stationed nearby to haul the spacecraft on board so the crew could be helped out of the Crew Dragon cabin and onto stretchers. Because can you imagine feeling gravity for the first time in nine months? I, I can't imagine it. I'm not sure it's totally pleasant, but they come out on stretchers just because they have to acclimate to fresh air, sunshine and gravity. Things that you and I take for granted. Well, for the two Starliner astronauts, it closed out this marathon mission again, supposed to last eight days, stretched to nine and a half months. And if you're counting, it's 4576 orbits. That turns into 121 million miles. Talk about travel fatigue. That launch took place last June of last year, and it was a problem plagued Boeing capsule. Their flight ranks sixth on the longest of single longest single NASA missions, and the other two astronauts spent 171 days in space. Orbit since their launch in September. So what I find very interesting is that this particular astronaut, this Butch Wilmore, is unashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ. And so CBS did an interview, and I'm going to just double check here and to make sure I can get this clip. And yes, I can. He did a CBS interview, and here's what he said.

We're all the product of our life experiences, and this extended business trip of yours certainly qualifies. What is your life lesson or takeaway from these nine months in space?

Well, in answer to your question, I can I can tell you honestly, um, my feeling on all of this goes back to my faith. It's bound in my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He is working out his plan and his purposes for his glory throughout all of humanity. And how that plays into our lives is significant and important. And however that plays out, and I am content because I understand that. I understand that he's at work in all things. Some things are for the good. Go to Hebrews chapter 11. Some things look to us to be not so good, but it's all working out for his good, for those that that will believe.

So there you are, CBS news going across the country in a space capsule. By the way, he was still in the capsule when he gave that declaration of praise to Jesus Christ. Boy, all glory to him all the time. The heavens declare the glory. And sometimes so to astronauts back after this. What happens when a pastor starts questioning everything he believes? Our truth tool this month is a raw, honest journey through doubt to deeper faith in does Christianity still makes sense? Doctor Bobby Conway addresses 20 of Christianity's toughest challenges. As for your copy of Does Christianity still make sense when you give a gift of any amount to in the market, call 877 Janet 58. That's 877 Janet 58 or go to in the market with Janet parshall.org. So we just talked about space and I brought up Elon Musk's name. So let's continue with that because I think this controversy raises a question for followers of Jesus Christ. What is the distinction between speech and action. And if there's something you find that you don't agree with in the culture, what are the right and wrong ways to respond? So just by way of background, again, I'm not being political here. I'm just calling the plays in the football game. You've probably noticed that there have been acts of vandalism, arson and quite frankly, domestic terrorism all across the country. There are charging stations that have been damaged and set on fire. Tesla dealerships have been attacked. Arson. Uh, paint. graffiti destruction. Keying Tesla's people. Destroying Tesla's, setting them on fire. And then people who own a Tesla. It's a $60,000 vehicle. I don't care what your politics are. If you got that kind of money, they have been destroying their own Teslas. In some cases, they've been selling them just as a way of political protest. I get that, but it's really interesting because when you stop and think about it, Craig, you would think that the people who are opposed to Elon Musk, and I'm sure that this ties back to this move toward government efficiency. And you and I have been in Washington a long period of time. You know, Washington collects our money. They don't make the money. There's no tree. Let me tell you, Craig. And I know every square inch of Washington, D.C. there is no garden anywhere where there's a money tree. They might print it and they might tax you, but that's the only way they get the money is we send it to them. So there is to be a huge amount of accountability to the American taxpayer. It's a stewardship issue, if you want me to put it in biblical terms. And if you and I allowed our checkbooks to do what the American government has done to our checkbook as a country, you would be incensed that we you know, we have a philosophy at Moody Radio that we're not going to go into debt. Well, that is a biblical principle, by the way, and every single one of us should have that same attitude that you're to be in debt as little as possible and no debt at all. Be in debt to no man. The Scripture says, and so, as much as possible, we should try to stay out of that. That same principle needs to apply when you're handling other people's money. And that's what the government does. It handles other people's money, yours and mine, that comes to Washington vis a vis our taxes. So this government efficiency program now is to cut through some of the the wasted money that's out there. And you've seen people on the floor of the House and the Senate taking off some of the things that have been paid for by the American tax dollars. And honestly, because we're east of Eden, there's a lot of graft and corruption and fraud and misuse of funds. And nobody likes somebody who comes in and cleans house. So because Elon Musk was tasked to head this, this adventure to go through and clean out exactly what's happening. There's been a pushback and that somehow Elon Musk personally, vis a vis his Tesla corporation, has to pay the price. So Attorney General Pam Bondi has rightly described these attacks as a form of domestic terrorism. And apparently they're going to crack down. But, Craig, what I'm particularly concerned about, talk about crackdown is that on March 29th, I believe it is going to be, yes, March 29th. It's called the Tesla takedown. Uh, and it's they're holding their biggest day of action. I mean, it's been unconscionable up to this point. So this is a prayer request, friends, that we pray that God would just breathe confusion into the camp of the people who want to do destruction. And this is the difference between speech and action destroying, uh, charging stations, doing damage, vandalism, graffiti at a dealership is not free speech. It is not protected speech by any stretch of the imagination. But this Tesla takedown now is going to go after 277 Tesla stores as well as supercharger stations. Um, there was a mass call Wednesday of this week with organizers, filmmakers, members of Congress, other key individuals banded together for this demonstration against the Tesla, which is interesting because I a lot of the people that are involved with these protest stations, they talk about climate change. They want to reduce their footprint. They get an electric vehicle. They were praising. The Tesla made itself available to do just that, and now they're going after it. Which raises an interesting question. How many of those people have had their cars destroyed by people who share the same worldview? I mean, this is where the snake eating its own tail. So this is very interesting to see. Wait a minute. I don't know the political ideology of a Tesla owner, but one would think that part of that choice would have been it had something to do with their carbon footprint. It makes sense. That's how it was being marketed. So again, this is a part of this pushback against the Department of Government Efficiency. And it's going to be interesting to see what happens now if you're a Tesla dealership. My heart goes out to you right now. What are you doing to protect yourself? And by the way, we should also point out that there's been a massive doxxing of not only every dealership in the country, but people who own. I don't know how you get that information, but names and addresses, emails have been put out there. So this has been this has been really unconscionable and it could get very, very nasty. Let me ask you to start with the law. Craig. The difference the ACLU is blind. They don't see this very often. They blur the line of distinction between behavior and speech. None of this could be categorized as protected free speech.

No, obviously it isn't. In fact, it's criminal destruction of property. And that can go from a misdemeanor to a felony, depending usually on the value of the thing destroyed. But it requires intentional destruction. That's really what they're all about. I find it interesting that we started this segment today with a good news story about the Space-x rescue and SpaceX was an outgrowth of Elon Musk's technological genius and his desire to build things that work and that solve problems. And so the problem here was rescuing some astronauts, and it was done successfully. But the difference between those who build and those who destroy. Mhm. Here's a guy who had built this rescue and he didn't built SpaceX specifically for rescue. But of course it came in wonderfully handy to be able to help these people stranded in space. But he is about solving problems. Now, you may disagree with the technique that he's using or whether the problem needs to be solved, but there's no question he is a problem solver. Now we have problem creators. We have not builders, but destroyers. It has nothing to do with free speech. It has to do with intentionally targeting the property belonging to others because that property has some connection to a man they apparently hate because he is using strategies to save the American people some money.

There's more to this story, and I want to continue when we come back. And again, I think there are a couple of interesting issues here for the believer. Again, how do you react when you find something abhorrent that you disagree with in culture? And it's a prayer request back after this. This is in the market with Janet Parshall. Craig Parshall is with me as he is on Fridays when we take a look at the stories making headlines, but look at them from a biblical perspective. So again, rise above the politics. You know, the alphabet soup networks would have you get all bound up in personalities and politics. I'm going to the transcendence of these issues because I think they're very important if we are to be a civilized people, if we're going to allow for dissent and discourse and those kinds of conversations in the public square. Is there a right and a wrong way to behave? Now, as a follower of Jesus Christ, the answer to that is absolutely exclamation point. No ands, ifs or buts. Why? Because we're ambassadors for Christ first, last and always. And it is why, if there's ever any act by someone who calls himself pro-life, who then does vandalism against an abortion clinic, I will call them out in front of this microphone, because there is a way that seemeth right unto a man, and the end therein is death. You don't overcome evil with evil, you overcome evil with good. The Bible says so. Looking again at the idea that there is this anticipated response, and I have to tell you, it's been massive destruction. There were several Teslas that were set on fire in Las Vegas. There was also another example of someone just using animal waste and putting it on a car. In Saint Petersburg, Florida, there was another man caught on camera keying a Tesla at a Costco parking lot in San Jose.

First dealerships firebombed.

Dealerships, but these are just individual cars. Note to file if you're planning on doing this. Probably I'm doing you a favor by telling you that there is a security mode on Tesla's. I did my homework. I don't own one, but there is a security mode and the cars have cameras. So all of this gets recorded so they track people down. So for an example, the person who was keying the Tesla in the Costco parking lot last week, he was convicted of damage. He's going to pay a fee in excess of $400. There is a potential for a sentence of 16 months to three years in a state prison based on circumstances. Now, I will tell you that the Attorney General, Pam Bondi Bondi, said these people are categorized as domestic terrorism and that they're going to come down hard if they do this because they are forget take out Elon Musk, take out Tesla. Just say that you don't. You have odd against Ford's okay. And you decide that you're going to start going after Ford dealerships and you're going to key Ford cards. Is that an appropriate way to express your dissent Descent because you don't like that. Henry Ford made Fords and said you can get him any color you want as long as they're black. So I'm going to protest Henry Ford.

Well, let's start with a biblical standpoint. You know, some of your listeners may say, well, it is terrible, but what's the biblical take on this? Well, let's go to the Old Testament. Let's go to the Ten Commandments. The seventh commandment is a commandment against theft of personal property. Property rights are right there in the Old Testament. As a matter of fact, there are some very detailed Old Testament laws in Deuteronomy as an example. Olivia. Olivia. Olivia. Leviticus.

Yeah.

It is Friday. It is Friday. So I'm in Lamentations now emotionally. Um, after having said in Luke, you.

Want to keep going.

Um, but, you know, very specific ordinances and regulations in the Old Testament about what happens when you do damage to the, personal property, whether it's animals or otherwise, of somebody intentionally or even negligently, they're repercussions for that. There are consequences. Uh, so the Bible is very, very clear about property rights being respected. God gave us, uh, a very strong indication that if you have personal property, no one should have the right to destroy it, steal it, abscond with it. Um, and so that's one of his moral boundaries. Uh, now you go to the US Constitution. Don't even have to go that far. Start with what I call the preamble to the preamble of the Constitution, which is the Declaration of Independence. And in there are property rights, along with several other we know about life, liberty and pursuit of happiness, but also private rights of home ownership were mentioned because British troops were being quartered without permission and consent in people's private homes. So private property was mentioned there also in the US Constitution, when the Constitution came into life and was ratified. It also protects what we call due process rights for property. You can't be deprived of property as an example without due process of law. So these are embedded in our legal system. They're front and center and embedded throughout Scripture. So from a moral, biblical and legal standpoint, what these people are proposing and what they're planning to do and have done is not only illegal and criminal, it's anarchy.

So the executive director of a group called Planet Over Profit, and she apparently is one of the groups behind this, said that they plan on holding 500 events around the globe on this March 29th dates. And she said, definitely, they're targeting 277 Tesla stores. But she stated that protesters should feel free to demonstrate at super charged stations. Really well. They're not demonstrating at these stations. Yeah, they're not destroying them.

We're not talking about quietly having a sign and marching peacefully.

So let me go to two points on this. Number one, this is an issue of self-control. Okay? So you're mad as a wet hand at Elon Musk, and you don't like what he's doing? Okay, that's your right to feel that way. But how you how you take that feeling and turning it into an action that is debatable. And that is a that's a key opponent, a point. So when you think again about the three institutions that God created in this order, the family, government and then the church, one of the purposes of government is to put in controls when you don't have any. Now for the believer, we get control. How do we get it? With the indwelling power of the Holy Spirit, one of the fruits of the Holy Spirit is self control. And so that's very much a part of this. So at its core, this is a spiritual question. I'm so mad at this person that I'm going to destroy his product. Well, okay, you have the right to be mad. You don't have the right to damage somebody else's property because you're mad. You don't have self-control. Enter the Attorney General of the United States who will prosecute. You don't have self-control because you don't have the controlling power of the Holy Spirit in your life as well. So I love these issues because when you when you peel them back, Craig, don't they at some level always go back to the gospel.

They always go back to a biblical worldview. I'm having a problem today. Worldview or you are your own God. You make it up as you go along and you say, I can do what I please because I'm a small g god in myself.

Yeah, I'm going to plug Craig into a Tesla charger during the break. We'll be back after this. Anyone can read the news every day on in the market. We're committed to telling the news as seen through the lens of Scripture. As Christians, we must be informed about what's going on in the world and respond appropriately. When you become a partial partner, you ensure that we continue here on your station, equipping the church to discuss current events, using the Bible as our solid foundation. Why not become a partial partner today? Call 877 Janet 58 or go online to. In the market with Janet parshall.org. Turning the page new topic on this Friday edition of In the Market with Janet Parshall. Craig partials over there. You know we talk a lot about this transgenderism because a it's emblematic of this dramatic spiritual shift in the country. The core of all of that is identity for the believer. Where do we find our identity in Jesus Christ? Right. It acts as it beautifully. 17 And him we live and move and have our being. So the search for identity and also it is a spiritual rebellion at some level. God, you made a mistake. I'm going to tell you who I am. You put me in the wrong body so we know there's brokenness there. There needs to be counseling and healing and tenderness for people who are struggling. It must be awful to feel like you're trapped in the wrong body. But if you dig deeper to the base concept of who is a human and what does a human, how does a human view themselves? You understand that there is this rebellion that somehow God made a mistake. So now you've got an executive order that says no federal funds to schools that are going to push the idea of having boys and girls sports. And you remember that the president had a luncheon with the governors, and he had signed the executive order for that. And Janet Mills, the governor of Maine, basically said, no, we're following federal law. And the president said, I'm paraphrasing here we are the federal law. And she said, see you in court. Well, I'm happy to report, as of today, she has laid down her arms and she will not be letting boys go into the girls dressing room. Funny, that's the power of an executive order. And more importantly, it's the power of federal dollars. But I have to tell you, there is a story that came out of a suburb in Illinois, Craig, that is just unconscionable to me. I realized that some of these states are pushing back, saying, no, we'll take you to court. We're not going to do it. We're going to make boys go in the girls locker room. But this one was untenable. Administrators at a middle school in Illinois tried to force teenage girls to change their clothes in front. This is a school trying to do this in front of a boy who identified as a female after the teens refused to share a locker room with the male. That's according to the mother of one of the girls. So. Nicole. Georges. Georges, I hope I'm saying her name told her 13 year old daughter story during a Deerfield School District 109 school board meeting last Thursday. The mother said that her teenager, who attended Shepherd Middle School, came home on February 5th, quote, frightened and extremely upset because there had been a boy in the girl's locker room. I can tell you all my girls would have had exactly the same response. So the mom said that she contacted the school and received an email explaining that the boy is allowed to use the girls bathroom and change in their locker room because he identifies as a female, which of course thinking people immediately say, what about the rights of the girls? Why does this confused boy have his rights? Trump the rights of the girls and their right to privacy and safety in a locker room? So another informed the school administrators that their actions appeared to violate the executive order that I just referenced, which prohibits males from participating in girls sports and using female spaces. The mom also filed a federal civil rights complaint on her daughter's behalf, and stated during the board meeting that the complaint has been referred to the U.S. Department of Education. Interesting. It'll probably then be kicked over to the Department of Justice as well, because there's a linkage there between the two. After these steps, the situation went from bad to worse. According to the mom, she said, quote, A few days later, the male student was present in the girl's locker room feeling violated. The girls made the choice not to change into their P.E. clothes with the biological male student present. I have to tell you, as a girl, I would have made the exact same choice. According to the mom, the district's assistant superintendent for school for Student Services, rather, the school's assistant principal and the director for student services reprimanded the girls, not the boy, the girls, for refusing to use the locker room with the boy. The administrators reportedly escorted them to the locker room and attempted to get them to change their clothes in front of the male student. Now, that's not ideological. That's not now we're moving into a whole nother territory Here, the girls just want their privacy and they want their locker rooms back, said the mom. There are gender neutral options. This is my daughter's story and the story of many other young women who have been forced at a difficult age to do something they know, and most adults know it's wrong. So in response, by the way to the controversy, the superintendent released a statement Monday claiming that, quote, district 109 is committed to providing a learning environment. Yeah, we're going to learn you something by making you watch this boy change his clothes learning environment, where all students and staff are respected and supported. I want to clarify that no student is required to change in front of others in locker rooms. All students in both middle schools have multiple options to change in private areas if they wish. District 109 policies and procedures for its education programs and services align with state law notice defaulting to the state, not the feds. This is what they tried to do in Maine. So this is the new methodology, the state laws, the Illinois School Code, the Illinois State Board of Education guidance, and of course now the lawyers are sharpening their pens. It's going to be very easy. Now, again, this is the tale of two stories. If this is brought into court, people have to give testimony under oath. We'll see where this goes. But if there's any truth to this story that these girls were brought back into the locker room and there was an attempt to force them to watch this man change his clothes, I got to tell you that that violates the law. That violates morality, privacy. You can take the entire hashtag MeToo sexual abuse issue and throw it out the window, because you can't talk out of both sides of your mouth. Either you protect the rights of women and girls, or you don't. Your thoughts?

Well, a learning environment. I think what these girls are learning is what tyranny really looks like, under the guise of the current climate of opinion that's floating around in a lot of public schools, which is the die, um, politically correct worldview that some people will be given special privileges because of a delusion about their sexual identity. None of that makes any sense, but it doesn't have to. Apparently, to some school administrators, it ought to. They ought to be the paragon of logical thinking. When you go into an educational institution, including high school. Those in charge should be in charge of an environment that makes sense, that doesn't rely on social delusions based on very aggressive social movements like the gender transition industry and advocacy. So look, this is an outrage. And I'm glad that the the girls and their parents, I'm presuming, are going to be litigating this because unfortunately, sometimes it takes a court decision to be able to push back this kind of violative conduct. Some cases are just so clear. You wonder why does this need to go to court? Well, the reason it does is because apparently we live in an atmosphere right now where if you do not push back legally, lawfully, and even gracefully by using the levers of the law to stop this, it will not stay the same. It will get worse.

You're thinking like a lawyer. Let me think like a mom. I want to know what happens to my daughter when her privacy has been violated. Where's the court of redress for that? Well, there's not.

There's there's no adequate compensation for those kind of injuries, right? When you're humiliated, when your modesty is violated and ripped away from you, no amount of money, no injunction and and victory in a court case where you have a piece of paper and you can show it to somebody and say, we won this case. None of that really fully compensates. The law always has to default to a second or third tier kind of a remedy after the fact. And now, on the other hand, I can tell you, after decades in the law and most of that trial work or appellate work, that, um, organizational behavior can be forced to change as a result of successful litigation. And I've seen it from 500, from international corporations to school boards to governmental officials. It can change as a result of, you know, litigation that is prayerfully approached. And and you say, well, this is for the greater good, not just to line my pockets.

So let's just talk what everybody would be thinking around their kitchen table, you know, don't default to Illinois state law or the particular code for your school. Wouldn't a kind and compassionate and mature school officials say I'll call the boy Tom. I don't have a clue what his name is. Tom. You know what, I respect you, I value you, and I understand where you're coming from and how you identify. So let me make you comfortable by offering you this gender neutral space to be able to do it. And that way, Tom, we're also respecting kindly, compassionately, reasonably the privacy factor of the girls in the locker room when you come in and you're forcing an agenda. Remember, transgenderism is an ideology. Gender dysphoria is a diagnosis. This is blind adherence to an agenda, an ideology. It is not sound science. There are not multiple genders. And you are assigned by God before you are born. He knew you in your mother's womb and he knew you as a man or a woman, and he doesn't make mistakes. Well, let me just finish my thought if I can. So the point is, again, you don't have to default to the law. And I understand exactly what you're saying, that sometimes the law helps mold and shape, and there's an absolute perfect and necessary place for that. I'm just going to common sense. You know, you don't have to go to school and get your master's in education. How about a PhD in common sense? Tommy, we're going to take care of you girls. We're going to take care of you. And he could have. Or whoever the administrator is could have very easily have handled that situation with compassion, kindness and a level of maturity.

So in other words, there could have been reasonable accommodation. Absolutely. But there's a reason and in my humble opinion, there's a clear reason why reasonable accommodations are not being offered in these kind of cases. And this one is particularly egregious. And one of the reasons is because bad ideas have bad consequences. And if bad ideas are allowed to be floated without refutation, without debate and the public weighing in, uh, but instead you defer to so-called experts, you know, the elites who say, no, we know better than you. And I'll give you the example. In this particular case, the civil rights movement was successful in saying, now wait a minute, equal treatment for everyone, regardless of race. That was right. That idea. That idea had good consequences because it was a good idea. Equal treatment under the law. Equal justice. What has happened is that those who believe in, as an example, gender transition and gender identity have said it's just like race. I was born this way in the wrong body and therefore I should have not separate but equal. I should actually be treated as an equal to a female.

One of the best statements I ever heard was a man who was an absolute leader in the civil rights movement, and he said the freedom Train to Selma was hijacked to Sodom. How right that was. Let me take a break. We'll be right back after this. So keeping in this same vein of spiritual confusion and rebellion. The mom of a middle school student in New York is taking legal action after her son was allegedly disciplined for saying there are two genders. That would be transcendent truth male and female. He created them both. According to a complaint filed in the U.S. District Court in the Western District of New York on Friday. This would be last Friday. Abby, a middle school student at East Aurora middle school, was suspended by the school for five days in March and was told that part of the reason for the suspension was because he expressed his belief that there are only two genders. I'm telling you, this is going from bad to worse. This situation, the court, which does not identify the mom or the student, states that Abby, that's how he's identified he or she is identified made this comment in November, but no disciplinary action was taken against him at that time. But then the complaint says Abby was given a disciplinary notice in March. That, quote vaguely accused him of violent conduct, and his prior statement about gender was cited as part of the rationale for his punishment. Abby didn't disrupt school activities or target any specific individual with his gender remark. The filing claims. And yet, according to the complaint, Abby was charged with violating the Student Code of conduct, which prohibits speech that, quote, demeans or denigrates others. Quote, if it presents a reasonable, foreseeable risk of distraction of disruption, the defendant's claim that Abby's words constituted violence was a pretext to justify retaliation against him for expressing a viewpoint that school officials disfavored the complaint issue. So the school and the district are accused in the lawsuit of retaliating against the student's First Amendment rights and violating equal protection under the 14th Amendment. The complaint says that the school officials were motivated by a desire to retaliate against the student's comments, months after he expressed it. Why? Well, because that executive order came down that said, and by the way, I cheered. I love it when the government comes into alignment with the righteous principle. The executive order recognized that there are two sexes, male and female. And by the way, I also read over the air on this program that the HHS guidance said male and female, determined at by birth, biologically. So, in other words, common sense working its way back to some of these government directives, which is, you know, a brand new day. But to have them say that you declare that there are only two genders, which, by the way, the overwhelming majority of the world believes, knows and has experienced that somehow that is conduct that's violent is unconscionable. Craig, now here, check the paradox. We talked about behavior and speech with the Tesla protests. And now he he utters the belief rights of conscience that there are two genders, male and female. And that's a disruptive and potentially dangerous violent act.

Yeah. It brings into a kind of a crystal clear but unclear distinction between speech and conduct. Some cases are clearly clear, and I think this is a crystal clear case of speech, not conduct. The Supreme Court says speech is protected under the First Amendment, but certain conduct many much conduct is not. Conduct can be regulated. Speech can't. Except with a series of very narrow exceptions. One of them is incitement to violence, which is conduct. In other words, if you tell people, come on, let's go beat up Johnny at school, that's, uh, incitement to violence. But speech itself, that simply opines, gives an opinion about something like there are two genders. There are two sexes. Uh, that's an opinion. That's quintessential speech. And Tinker versus Des Moines is still good law by the Supreme Court. That says the only time you can restrict that kind of speech is if it poses a reasonable opportunity for disturbance of the school activities and the school curriculum. Right. And that's that's what the school is alleging. You notice that their lawyer probably advised him, well, here's the law. And so they picked up that phrase and said, oh, well, there is a disturbance right on the horizon here with this child saying that there are two sexes, okay. Which I think is, uh, I think it is, uh, fantasy is a nice word.

I'm going to go back to the locker room situation with the rights of a person who feels trapped in their wrong body, supersede the rights of people who believe in sound science and biblical truth, that there's only two genders, male and female. And so I find it interesting again, that you come down on the side of the person who probably is struggling with a mental health issue, or has captured a cultural contagion, or is being coerced by a teacher with this ideology, and somehow the rights of that student are protected. But the rights of another student to say what the overwhelming majority of humanity believes is somehow violent. Now, let me just give one more queer theory idea out there. And it is a queer idea. And I don't mean sexuality. I mean the old way in which we use the word queer, which is strange and odd, if.

Not bizarre.

If not bizarre. Hospital forms in new Jersey are asking whether newborn babies I cannot make this stuff up are transgender or queer gender queer having done.

Excuse me, let me ask my infant. My newborn.

Hospitals in new Jersey are reportedly handing out forms to new parents, asking them whether their newborn babies identify as transgender or gay, among other shockingly irrelevant questions. The forms attributed to the hospital group Inspira Health include queries like what sex was your baby assigned at birth? Which of the following best describes your baby? Lesbian or gay? Straight or heterosexual? Bisexual? I mean, have we completely lost our minds?

Well, I you know, I don't want to be paranoid, but there are times when paranoia is true and it has a basis. Look, a lot of this, not everything, but a lot of this has a Uh, strategic reason behind it. Uh, and what I mean by that is organizations that advocate for those rights are finding ways to be able to win lawsuits and to change public opinion and to affect legislation. Right. So what they're doing is saying, if it's on the birth certificate, it'll make it easier for us to represent that. In fact, it's the birth identity of the child pursuant to a government document.

So let me put it another way. They're trying to legitimize this. And if they can fill it out on a piece of paper. Exactly right, that somehow we're normalizing the bizarre. Okay. And so, Mom and Dad, I have to tell you, and I say this every time, but God created in this order family, government and the church. And if you think Satan isn't going after the family, considering how precious and important and primary it was to the heart of God. Awake, O sleeper! So Nehemiah was right as he was repairing the walls that had been damaged around the city of Jerusalem. He told them they had to rebuild the walls, but they also had to keep an ear open and their eyes watchful. When you hear the sound of the trumpet, he said, fight for your families. Your child does not live in a value neutral world. It lives in a world that wants to denigrate and trample underfoot the principles, precepts, and protections of God's Word. You can't be asleep at the switch. Mom and dad, you are on duty 24 over seven. You were divinely appointed to be that child's parent. Don't abandon it. Don't give up. Take courage, stay the course and be a prayer warrior for your child. Because trust me, they want to take your child captive through vain and hollow philosophies.
