This week on Rookie Pirate Radio, special guest Kayla Chu joins Jon Negroni (me) and Travis Hymas to discuss Frieren: Beyond Journey's End. Also known as Frieren, the Final Farewell to the Dead, this is a new cozy fantasy adventure anime produced by Madhouse Inc. and currently streaming on Crunchyroll. Based on the manga written by Kanehito Yamada and illustrated by Tsukasa Abe, Frieren has been rapidly building a passionate fanbase. Partly for its slow-burn, melancholic storytelling but also its whimsical, humorous characters.
For some bonus content, you can read Jon's review of the first four episodes from the perspective of a manga reader. And Frieren also ranked as one of our best anime shows of 2023, and you can find Kayla's blurb for the show here.
We want your feedback! If you have any questions, corrections, or anything else on your mind, please email us (rookipirateradio@gmail.com) or join our Discord and hang out with us on the anime server (or any server!)
