On October 3, 2016, the Walker County sheriff’s department responded to a 911 call from a home in rural Flintstone, Georgia a little past 1 in the afternoon. According to the caller, a man had grabbed a shotgun and shot himself in the head. The police arrived and found two people outside the trailer and, inside, they found 27 year old DJ Fickey deceased on a loveseat. But due to constantly changing stories from witnesses, investigators became suspicious that this was actually a potential homicide. When the DA declined to press charges, DJ’s sister Amanda began her own campaign to seek justice for DJ.
