Crime reporters see and hear difficult things. I sat down with Scott Reeder, host of Suspect Convictions, to discuss the murder of Jennifer Lewis, the Little Tikes daycare shooting, and his recent interviews with those whose lives have been changed by the the Santa Fe High School shooting.

When a crime ends in a conviction, the victims or their families are often allowed to give a statement to the court about the impact of the crime on their lives. But when these life altering events go unsolved, do not end in a conviction, or aren’t crimes at all, the victims and their families do not have this opportunity. On July 10, 2010, Lyle and Marie McCann failed to show up at the airport to pick up their daughter and granddaughter. Their adult children feared they had become lost on their road trip.
