Daniel McCulloch grew up in Tamworth pursuing a shearing apprenticeship, only to find his way into stock and station agency almost by accident. By 21 he was representing Australia at the World Auctioneering Championships. Two decades on, he’s one of the country’s most respected rural real estate professionals, co-founding McCulloch Agencies with his wife Karina and growing the business across livestock marketing, rural property sales and agribusiness transactions throughout northern New South Wales and Queensland. Along the way, Daniel took a strategic turn as a shareholder and senior director at LAWD before returning to McCulloch Agencies as an independent operator, backing himself and the long-term future of the business.
Joined by Kylie Walsh, Daniel unpacks the difference between selling livestock day-to-day and managing a rural property sale for six to eight months before it lands and why he'd rather his team make ten meaningful calls than 150 hollow ones. He explains the del credere model, where his agency guarantees payment on every livestock sale, and the financial discipline that comes with putting your own money on the line. He also shares why they deliberately scaled back from six offices to two to create a stronger, more sustainable business on their own terms.
