With her first album in five years on the horizon, Jess Glynne is taking the time to reflect on the work she did to get there — both musically and personally.

Glynne recently caught up with CJ from Audacy’s CHANNEL Q to talk about the project and how its a result of taking a step back from the industry and getting the help she needed to through therapy.

“It’s definitely saved my life a bit,” she shared when talking about her experience with therapy and how it helped her find musical reinvigoration. “I went through something super tragic and I needed the support. I think that for me was super, super important. I didn’t know how important until now. I look back at where I was and where I am now. It really has saved me and it’s taught me a lot.”

Helping her overcome the biggest of her own challenges, Glynne says she’d encourage anyone to seek therapy who is open and ready to make a change for themselves. “It’s a journey that you have to be prepared to want to go on,” she said. “If it’s not something that you feel you need, or you want, or you believe in… you’re entitled to that… At the same time, I do think it’s important you know, especially in this industry, with the pressures… there’s so much that comes with it.”

Whether it’s therapy, art, or another form of foundation, Glynne drove home her main point to encourage individuals to find support that works for them. “I do think it’s important to have an incredible support and find ways that you can handle that stuff within yourself ,” she concluded. “That’s what it taught me. So from that perspective, I think it is an incredible thing."

Audacy's I’m Listening initiative aims to encourage those who are dealing with mental health issues to understand they are not alone.
