The march comes amid the discovery of bodies of eight women in the Ekurhuleni municipal area in less than two months. Police say that, although they do not want to treat the cases as linked incidents until investigations prove otherwise, they need all the help they can get from the community. The Madlanga Commission has turned its attention to the Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD). Part of the Commission's mandate is to investigate alleged criminal infiltration of metro police departments in Gauteng. The Commission heard evidence from two JMPD officials, Superintendent Elmarie de Beer and Sergeant Rico van Wyk.
