On the 3rd of May 2025, five young people from Vezubuhle embarked on a symbolic walk from Kwamhlanga to Nelspruit, carrying a baby coffin to submit their business documents to the Mpumalanga Premier Youth Development Fund. This is not just a physical journey — it's a call for investment in youth entrepreneurship and rural economic development. They have arrived in Mbombela and are now camped at the offices to see the Premier. They are carrying a baby coffin, which symbolizes fragile dreams that die due to lack of funding, mentorship, and recognition. Through this walk, they aim to carry the hopes of many young people who have ideas but no voice, and to revive belief in township manufacturing and local job creation.
We talk to Vincent Zimu to get an update about their walk.
