It's getting hot in here...

I am all in. That's just you. I am all in with Scott Patterson and I Hurt Radio podcast that afternoon every Scot Patterson, welcome to the show. We've got a rollicking affair looking we're looking forward to God. I didn't think this is actually happening. What is wrong with you, sir? I thought that was great, it was good. I thought maybe you were going to be the new Dodgers announcer respective and Scully respective and oh yeah, I pn Scully speaking up. Since we're live today, can we just take a second. I like cried when I heard about Olivia Amy. I was going to text you what happened to Oliba? And John? Oh Jesus, snow way, isn't that? It's such sad? Was she was? She sick? I didn't, Well, she's had breast cancer off and that's that's yeah, that's two icon, two icons gone like that. It's so sad. And normally for people that are listening, we normally tape the show like a day in advance, but today we're literally taping it and you're hearing it, so it's all in real time. Oh my goodness, studded me. I had tears when we logged in. Yeah, so boy, condolences to the Scullies and the Olivia Newton John family that she's a daughter. I think we shot. I think we shot some beach stuff at her old house. Actually, I think that we were in Olivia Newton John's old house or house. Yes, when we went to the beach, remember, and it was it was meeting Logan and we had lobster. And I think that will not what you're talking about, but Tara and I do it. Maybe I may be off on this, but I kept hearing Olivia John's house. That makes sense. We have a good I was hoping there was like a grease reference or something in this episode, because there are so many grease references. I wouldn't have been so upbeaten wifty in how would you know? I mean, it just happened. I'm so sorry about that. Well, anyway that I know, I like love herself. Well, she was just such a you know, just a sweet one. Oh boy, that's young this day and age, that's young. I know. It's anyway, condolences to everybody who's our huge, huge living John fans. I know, and it does seem fitting for us because I'm sure there's been Grease references multiple times. You Gilmore girl, Yeah, there has been. This episode is dedicated to both of them. How about that? Okay? Good? I like that good good. So this this episode is dedicated to the voice of the Dodgers for over fifty years. Now buying right fetal number nine Hatcher. I like to ask you a question about this episode, but I don't want you to take it the wrong way. I guess I'll just should I ask it now. I already know what you're gonna ask. Do you tell me? No, you tell me, you ask and all confirm or deny? Okay, two things. What is it called our what do we call it our nitpicking? Let me just tell you right off the top here we are going to the bone yard. I have a bone this week, but save that. But here's my questions. It's your bone hard hats on because we're gonna be there, there's gonna be falling bones. Did you have an injured foot or ankle? I thought you were limping in the scene, So this is what I'm saying. It's so weird in the scene where you and Lorla are walking in the town town, I don't you're talking about if Jess is cutting school or not in houses. That's my jersey strut. That's a strut. Did you wait a minute, you're talking about after the PO meeting. Yeah, that's the jersey strut in the leather checket. That's not bad bad leg? What's wrong with you? Don't you know? What a cake thing? First of all, I meet my angle. This is making my nose. I hate this angle makes my nose like weird. Though it was like limping. Did nobody else think that that's the jersey strut? That's how I used to walk? Yeah, I mean it was. I did think there's some wrong with my leg. Oh my god, that's funny. I will say Luke had a different vibe this episode that I thoroughly enjoyed it the whole episode, even in the diner. Well, no, when the diner, I had to have you did not have had at the podn't have the hat? He had it when when he went to the Walmart, right and he had it? Oh yeah you did? At the got to clean up the act for Nicole. She was at the PO things Boon Nicle boon where we're saving our bones to pick our bones. But I will say one more thing before we start. This was the first episode where it was really really hard for me to not keep going. I don't know why, but I had to force myself, like you have to. I wanted to go a whole another episode. I'm like, no, that's not how we're doing this. We're not supposed to do that. Oh this was I needed. I really wanted to roll right into the next one, really because of the Yale thing in the heart. I love the whole episode, and also the like we'll get to it, but like the sleepover, are you hidding me? Like that's just the cutest thing ever. She told you about the dream, which is such a great callback because it was like, dream was so significant, but she said, I'm not a dream slet of course it was okay, okay, So anyway, we'll start from the top. You start from the top. Who's gonna take us away? Who's gonna who's gonna who's synopsizing the synopsize? Alright, guys, this is season three, episode seventeen, A Tale of Pose and Fire. Air date April fifteen, two thousand three. Amy is bright red because here's what I want to say. It's like, you know, like we're having a busy day. Everyone's busy, and I hope people listening have the same experience. The minute we start, I'm like, oh my god, I freaking love this. Yeah, you have no idea. There are Canadians at this very moment trying to break into my apartment to shove swamps up my nose. I am not allowing them in. I've told them their window is closed. I podcasting, stop texting me. Literally, It's like, you didn't get the COVID test today. Sorry, you know. And I'm a team player and I don't want you know. I want to know and I want them to feel good. Two or I had three COVID tests last week, Daniel had to. Yeah, I had five every day, every single day you're on set. You know who wasn't COVID tested. The Post Society a good segue, right, guys. Everybody the Post Society is visiting Stars Hollow, but the fire at the end distrusts their stay, and the whole town pitches in to help the guess Lord Line Rory make a pro slash con list of Yale, Princeton, and Harvard, and Rory comes to decision on what school she chooses. Meanwhile, jessvit. Meanwhile, Jess Win's employee of the month at Walmart, but Luke questions his hours he's putting in at both jobs. Wait, right from the start, are you pro con pro list people? Yes? Oh, sure, you got to do that. That's basic. You have to do that. I go with my gut. That's why, that's how I make decisions. So fast do you do? Do you at least do a pro con list or whether you should do a pro con list the pros and concept doing the lesson? Then you said not to do it. I think Luke was anti the pro con pro list. Is it a pro con pro or just pro dude? Do you guys want to know? I can't even tell you why. I just called it a pro con pro list. It has to do with a secret thing in my sorority. And literally, I'm sure I'm not allowed to talk about it. All the Kappa Kappa Gammas are yelling through their headphones right now. That's so weird. And I'll just say this that in the sorority we called it a pro con pro list. That's what I called it. No one listening cares. I also save your emails that you don't care. I get it. You don't say about my own personal life. Okay, so you all are pro con? What type of pro con list is the last one you did? Scott? Did you want do one? To go to do this show over several days as a matter of fact, and consulting with multiple parties? And do you actually write it down? Yes? I actually write it down, Oh my gosh, and I refine it and I revised it. Oh yeah. And then do you literally like count up your number? You got a number it? I mean this this one is this said fifty plus on each side? Now we did Gilmore girls, did you do a pro con? And there was no cons? Hell no, there was no cons. I just like I was happy to have job, all pros. Yeah, not even a last It was like, yeah, what's the last pro calm list you guys did? Daniel Tara, I'm trying to think, I mean as dumb as vacations, like what's the pro class in this place versus this place? But you gotta do you know what I mean? You got funny sunny rain over here and you got life. You know you got a pro colin did you do did you already do it for Christmas? Did you do it? Did you decide? Guys? Did you decide where are you going on vacation, Danielle for Christmas? For Christmas? I don't know about Christmas yet. I thought you were like proct I was like, I think it's nice and naughty. What what's the last one you did it? For this job? I think I think it was this job because I left, I heard and then I came back. But I will say it was the easiest pro any number one pro number two I was you put Scott on there. You're like, I get to be on the Gilmore Girls podcast. Yeah, okay, well, I guess we'll kind of go out of order because it's impossible to talk about the pro con list without the big reveal that Rory's going to Yale. Did anyone else cry at the end of this because I was so big the fire not at all did this. I'm sorry, but this this episode just irritated me as much as it delighted me. Okay, okay, you staved in there, talk about it, tell us everything. I just I don't think it really got started until they were set up in Miss Patty's taking reservations, and then I agree with you, and then it's like, what was all this stuff that happened before it? Was completely unnecessary, and I didn't really get a laugh out of it until into they started Michelle doing it funny stuff this in Miss Patties. Yeah, I agree with you. I hadn't watch it twice because I forgot. I forgot what happened and I can't. I can't even tell you what happened in the first half. I knew there was a fire, so funny because so I loved the scene with the eye rolls like Lindsay eye rolling. Yeah, that was before you guys, that was so signal. I mean the first the first episode was the pro con list. I mean the first scene, So you guys didn't really feel it hitted stride until I mean, I will admit that that scene with Michelle Amy. Do you think it's because we've seen it so many times and we were just like along for the ride. I felt that it was. I just thought it was off. I mean, for a Daniel Palladino episode. I was expecting fireworks right out of the gate and I wasn't getting them, and I just thought the pace of it was off. Listen, that show has to be. It's it's like a fine tuned engine. There are so many elements involved in making that show great that if one or two are off, it just doesn't work for me. And I get what. I just didn't think it was. I wasn't with it for the first I guess half hour. God yause, I loved it the whole time through. I find this episode super enjoyed the Yannick laughs. Oh you know, the Yanni had a great episode, and so when he started making me laugh and I was like, okay, now I'm off to the races. You know what, I think You're right? Do you think it's it's one of his best because when he's on the phone to the Chessire and you think he's calling for the rooms and he says, do you have any openings? I mean I'll be what do you say? I'm an ex employee of the fire Oh so great? He was amazing. Yeah, I mean, Kirk didn't do it for me in this episode, and he always slays me, and I just thought, this is you know, okay, I agree that the shirt bit was dumb until the very and they were wearing it well that too, all the burned out the guests and then the shirt that says Rory is going to Yale. So I thought, oh god, you know what, what a way to let me make an observation. And this occurred to me before we're coming onto the podcast. Um, I had a realization that I really like spending time with Rory. I always enjoy it and I never get sick of it because she's not animated. She's chill. That is so true. And I like spending time with Unique because he's never animated unless he's really piste off. He's kind of chill and draw and I love the delivery, so for me it seems more real. May I say observation there and even correct. Yeah, And I don't like Luke when he's animated because I don't think that's where he lives, you know, and it's right so, but I just like the more chill character and the people that were grading on me in this episode with the animated characters, the people that are always animated. The sukis the Laurealize, the lanes every you know, the energy is through the roof, and I think I like the contrast that that provides, and I think it's necessary when it's a balanced episode, when the writing is superior, when everything's working, I think that can work. But when it's off, I really notice the chill versus the animation. It doesn't only part I disagrees. I don't think Laurel I is ever too animated, but you're right, Bad Bets animated. Oh no, she's animated a lot. I have to like think of that when I'm watching, because for me, she's so sarcastic and it's like such wit. But you're probably right. But you're right, Kirk's animated Bad Bette Miss Patty Lane to some extent. Oh, she's always a popping through the roof lane with the energy. It's always it's always this explosive, breathless kind of stuff. And I'm just like, can we just get back to Rory please? She's so cool, you know. So she's so cool, and everybody's just flipping out all the place. Well even even when you know, we know she's picking Yale Laura, I knows, and then you get that reveal at the end, even her smile is chill, Yeah, and it makes it that much just the fact that you got that smile. You're like, oh my god, she's totally going to eat. And I'm not saying that I think the show would have been better had everybody been chilled, because it wouldn't have you need you need the animated characters because that gives it its its energy. Is animated. Paris is nuts, right right? And what a what a horrible friend? She claims to be, Well, do you yet, I know you got in? You have that Harvard glow? And then she says, yes, I got in. She just looks at the TV. I mean, what kind of is such a good friend to be kind of a crap friend? Is Rory allowing to just sort of dump on her all the time? I don't I didn't get the scene. Why is she there? Why is she? And I think she knows that Paris doesn't have anyone, And I think Rory is that girl who's going to be by someone's side. At her core, she knows Paris is good. Yeah, she's just good. The outwardness of Paris is so Rory. Rory is so strong that she can take that, and it does. She doesn't take it personally, and she just wants to be there in service to Paris, to help her. That's what you're saying. That's seventeen years old. At your age, you you, I don't know, you're that's important to be there for your friends. I feel like, I'm not saying it's right, but I feel like Paris saying you got that Harvard glow was the compliment. Yeah, that she was like congratulations without saying congratulations because her ego so bruised. That's a good that's a good point. Yeah. I think my take on Paris and Rory is that Rory likes the real Paris, the authentic Paris, the Paris that comes to her to talk about Jamie and what happened, the Paris that was crying on her shoulder in that episode. And I think Rory just likes that person, that she tolerates that sort of annoying person, and she knows that this was all building up to Harvard. So like, you know, all of Paris's aggression, everything that happened throughout school was because she wants to get into Harvard, and Rory was her competition. I just think Paris is the kind of a psychopathic personality that when she takes power, Rory will be the first one executed, because you know, she reminds you, remind me of the side of myself that I cannot reveal to mykey. I don't think so, because I do. I think she's a monster. But but she's only like the other girls didn't even noticed that Paris wasn't in class for a week, and Rory is the only one that notice. And even at the end, you see she looks over at the notes that Rory brought back from school and she's like, oh, she actually cared that I'm missing my homework. So I think I think she has this like tough exterior and or like Scott said, she's got has a psychotic X. Yeah, yeah, I laughing. The one thing I did like was the voice mail, not the voice mail, but the recording of her interview. I was like, oh, geez, you didn't get it so unhinged. I was like, you said, please, that's nice. That was so crazy, but yet like not that crazy for parents. Okay, okay, okay, so let's go sort of through this. I did think that the very first scene when they're in the diner and Luke comes over and does the hug so long, I'm not gonna hug now. Didn't you think that Luke felt like when they revealed to him that she got into all three that he felt like I did it too, like we all didn't. And you see him he almost says it it's like Luke almost says something, you know what I'm talking about, But was there any kind of acknowledgement of that or the inclusion in that world. It doesn't seem to me that they let him in too far, and they let him in the door, but they didn't let him out of the foyer. So I would think you're right until the sleepover. If not, I would have actually felt like, oh wait, Luke deserves more credit for being a part of this, because I think you're right in that scene. But then when the sleepover happens, you realize like, oh my god, because they are that is the first place she would go. And Rory's like, just go to Luke's. He'll take care of you, and she's like, oh, you're right. So I do think that made up for the sort of beginning part. I don't know. I'm I'm very very confused by this Luke Laurelized situation and talk about it. Tell us where your heads at. I don't know. I just think she's sold all over the place and she's so and she and she sort of showed it in this episode how condescending she can be towards guests, towards everybody, and even towards him, and I just I don't know, even though they were supposed to be connecting and and making the bed and arguing and all this kind of stuff and and it all felt great. I don't know. I just I didn't feel the connection there. I didn't feel it feels like now, and maybe this is intentional from the brilliant writers, uh that that their universe a part they don't they don't feel. I don't feel like they're I felt that in the bed making that feels like, let's try to have them have this, you know, little spat. But once they're in bed and they're talking and she tell is the dream and you see the way they navigate that and Luke's face and the way she's telling it, I was like, oh my god, but where is this coming from. I mean, it's like it was just so felt so out of the blue for me. I see, I disagree because we I thought it was set up well okay, because we have the eye rolling from Nicole. Clearly Nicole does not like lower Lie and she said he has make panting and she does the full eye roll, so we're like, what's going on? She's threatened by lower Ly rightfully, you know, so obviously. Then we learn that Luke has mentioned Lora like mad nauseum on the date. Then we know that it's become like a thing, and it's like lower Lie is sort of telling him like, oh, yeah, you never talked about a friend that's a woman. But deep inside, she's like, yeah, so I thought it was set up perfectly. I'm just wondering if I let my foot off the gas too much for too long, or the or the writing was such that it appeared that I was letting my foot off the gas too much. Tell me more what you're saying there in terms of how I felt about Laurel and my desire for her, and how to express that when I was not in a scene with her or not, or maybe just talking about her. Maybe that's my fault. I don't know. No, you mean as an actor, Yes, I think I disagree. I want to hear what Daniel and Tara say, because I think you're playing it perfectly like she is your best friend. You take her in immediately, you give her the bed. There's this sort of cute thing between them. She tells you the dream, and the dream she literally tells you were married. You kissed me I'm pregnant, and you like going with it like it's a dream. But inside you see Luke like, oh my god, he's so I thought he was going to dumb Nicole that minute. But okay, maybe maybe. So why is she telling me this? I agree, that's okay, that's the point. It's not about me. Why is she Why is she telling me this? I thought it was really inappropriate. I did say, I agree with you because you are at the moment taken Like I don't know. I just I thought it was inappropriate your dating Nicole. You're with her, you're trying to make it work, and then here she comes telling you the story that you want to hear. You want to hear that she's dreaming of you, You want to hear that you have a dream family together. But she's doing it now, Like I don't know. I didn't. I thought it was really distasteful. In my she say they kiss? Or did I make that up? Because she said she was pregnant. She said she was pregnant, zips her she zips it before she reveals the kiss. Okay, gosh, this has given me a lot to break down. But wait a minute, Wait a minute, So So Laura La has not really made any eyes or overtures or any inklands of interest towards Luke in several episodes, and I'm correct me if I'm wrong. And then all of a sudden, he's, you know, he seems to be with the coal and he seems pretty upbeat, and he just came off a phone call whether where he's like kind of secret secret, and I want to I want to do you know, I was like putting my shovel out on whatever he's you know, whatever she said. You know, it was an intimate thing, obviously, and it made him blush a little. Okay um. And then Laura Lai hears that, and then she decides to talk about some dream that she's pregnant, and I mean, really it seems very minipulate, seems very manipulative, slipped out the dream. And then she's sort of if it's slipped out, you don't keep talking about it. Well, liked about she isn't that funny? Okay, I'm gonna say this and it's gonna cause quite a stir in an email storm. I don't think she's interested in Luke. I think she's interested in winning. I like I like that you're causing this debate before we debate that, Danielle, do you think it's inappropriate that she went to Luke's to stay? I don't think so, because they do have that relationship. They are friends, and when friends are going through something bad like that, you help no matter what. But you just think it's inappropriate that she told some dream it's a freaking dreaming. It's not a dream. It's a dream that she's pregnant, that Luke and her have a family together, that they are something more than friends. How did it come up? Who remembers? Why did she tell the dream story? Because she heard the phone call with Nicole and decided that she wanted to win that evening because she doesn't care about Luke. You know, Scott Cohen comes a bye, any all these other guys are coming by. She doesn't give Luke a second thought, right? That the whole Yeah, it's the whole conversation that that uh, Nicole is kind of hebe gep over Laura Lae, that she thinks that you know, that she's almost kind of a threat. And then that's when Laura Lae plops down even more of a double downer, and it's like here, you feel like we're all just blanking on the segue to the dream. I'm just telling you, I think it's Luke was telling her that Nicole, doesn't you know, she gets kind of weird when when Luke talks about Laura Lae and so she just goes over this dream once sege I'm gonna have to go back and watch it again. It was like, you know, it was definitely right after that conversation. At the least it was, yeah, it was, and then Laura Iz is hearing like, oh, you know, hey, maybe I can drive a wedge. I can win this, not necessarily the guy the situation. So is it really her? Is it really her feelings or is it just her ego? I mean, how is how is she talking this way to him in his apartment? I think sometimes when you you now know, like because Luke has been single, he's been there, and she never went for it. Now that he's taken, she's like, oh crap, like I should have gone. That's how I thought of it, like damn, and I lost my chance and now he's I think you can also be jealous of something even if you don't actually know what sure you want it, like you're just like jealous, like she that's her guy right. Oh wait here They said it was during the conversation because Luke brought up lower Lye on his and Nicole's first date and keep going Jackie our producers like scamming back. And she said, and luked it intil Nicole or Lie spending the night. Oh yeah, but but she but it was and he was right, it didn't come up and it's not appropriate, right, but she loyalized the one that pushed that she leaves you guys did come up because he intentionally would never say that because Nicole would have flipped her lip. He didn't. He didn't pre predict that going to drop on his porch. He was on the phone with Nicole. He could have said, yeah, there's a fire at the end. In fact, loyalize here right now, but that you don't like is here right down. He intentionally didn't say it because though he would have lost her noodle over it. No, it was no, it was him taking his private space in in his private relationship with another woman. It's none of luralized business. He didn't owe Laura I anything. He didn't owe any explanation anything. Why would he allow because big wait a minuta because somebody had a fire. His girlfriend. The fact that another woman is sleeping in the bed. She wasn't sleeping in the bed. She was sleeping. She was sleeping on the couch in the same room. He was functioning as a friend. It was a friend you're telling thing. But Jess was in the same exact room too, so it's three through. He was in the same room. Yeah, they're all snoring. Remember that scene where she's Danielle, you're gonna go over? Okay, let me let me make a scenario. I don't think. So Danielle happens to be somewhere and suddenly she's has to sleep over in the same room with Jared pada Lay Jared plucky you are. You're in Gilmore Girl's world, and you're like, oh my god, there's been a monsoon. I weirdly have to sleep with Jared Padli and then your husband calls. Okay, so your husband, John Reno calls and you're like, there was a small susan but everybody's fine. By no, I would be like, I'm stuck in this room with all these people, so heads up, yeah, you know, okay, I'm not I'm not I'm not saying Luke shouldn't have said that, but he should have said, hey, I'm lorialized spending the night here or whatever, like yeah, I'll give it to you. No, No, I'm not buying the argument. I'm not buying it. He she she wasn't significant enough in his life for a random fire, a random situation where she came randomly to his house. He was being a good guy. Why should he complicate his relationship with Nicole by dropping that freaking bomb on with you that he didn't have to tell her? But like he intentionally doesn't tell her because he knows that deep down he's got feelings for her, and uh, Nicole will lose her Sorry, can I say yes? Cool with Nicole? Shite? Nicole would have lost her poop. She would have hung up the phone on him and broken up with him right then and there, just like I feel like Luke should have been, like, the girl of my dreams isn't in the bed here? Well, you know, we just not dream But what about you know? Is it gonna? Is it? You know? Now? It sets up something to to rear its ugly head later on right now, and I cannot remember if it does. But it's sure going to be the bleep hitting the fans. I don't think, I don't think. I don't think he had any obligation to tell Nicole that laurel I was there. It was just not necessary and I don't know that she had any relevance in his mind at that point talking to his girlfriend, right, and this chance thing happened. So he's in he's in hot water. I mean, he's he's he is not to know Laura la is a sore subject with Nicole. That is why if it was Rory to say there was a fire, I agree, I agree with you would have said, yeah, there was a fire. Rory's here. I got it based on the conversation they just had before. He answered before you that Nicole is jealous because Nicole knows that that Luke has feelings for Lorelai, and it is pretty sure that Lorelei has feelings for Look, let's face it is just a dumb guy who can't pull the trigger and now he's in a bad spot. Okay, but wait, really, one more question for you all, especially you Scott, what significance this is their first ever sleepover that I know of, even though they're I don't think it's a sleepover when Jess is right there either like that just I don't know. That's a community coming together to help one another out. That's what I agree. But you guys are still on the on the side of the debate where it was okay that Lorelei told him her dream. Yeah, can a dream? I don't think. I don't. I don't think. I think that was odd, odd timing, and that is not that is not I think if they were sort of coming closer, if they were dating, that's something you tell a guy that you really want. That's that's like I'm we've been dating for a while, things are getting serious, and we're talking intimately, and then that is revealed with a couple of cocktails saying you tell the guy you have the crush on, you go, that's how you get That's how you get rid of the guy. Never had a crush on somebody, and you're like, yeah, but if he was saying my dream exactly hashtag single sure in a relationship slipped up and started to tell it and then was stuck so she had to tell it, which is why she didn't tell the part about the kiss. Remember, she didn't tell that probably messed that up in my brain. But I also feel like sometimes Laura just like talks and does know what's coming out, you know what I mean? Did I? But look who she's talking to. She's talking to like the town yokel who's who's not going to ever use it against her. He's just gonna take it in and he's gonna be sort of single minded about the whole thing, and just like you know and do us Luky, he's gotta get up early and he's gonna make that you know, he's not gonna he's not gonna over analyze it the way we are, right, It's it's just not in his in his capability. So it's very at hey, Bubbo, what's happening? Huh? My boys coming out? No wonder you're so happy your family is there. I just realized why stuff's been in like such a great mood. Oh my god, are you having so much fun with them? Yeah? Is it so much better when they're there? It's like, are you kidding? So? Like? Now, could you like this job? Yeah? That's so cute. Wait, that made me think of something. Also, I never Mrs Slutsky is she's so caustic? Why she's so mad. I don't know. Yeah, why is she so mad? Why is she so mad? I don't know? Anyway, let's uh, I think we've talked circles around that one, that little situation. But it's it's looking it's an important narrative in the in the piece overall, so it needs a discussion. But yeah, I, Danielle, I agree with you on this. Um just not appropriate, just not appropriate time. Yeah, I'm reading the script right now just to see what that exact moment right before she can you read that to us? So she talks about how did you get so fast? By the way, just you know, the internet is a great tool. Um, No that she talks about you don't you don't talk about another woman on a first date. And then Luke goes, no, uh, no other woman exists, not even my mother. And then Lai says, you can maybe mention his sister. Maybe they're talking about the alarm clocks and how he has to set his at a quarter to five, and then she goes out a dream once that you said eighteen alarm clocks to get me up now playing left field, laurelized baby dream with Luke right right, where did that? Where did that come from an honor of Vince Gully, right, it's like whoa. She literally was like, Oh that alarm clock that you're sitting tomorrow morning, let me tell you about mile arm clocking my dream. Wait, so okay, let's I have a segue, an abrupt segway. Did we find Pandora the cat? Significant? I did, because there's gotta be similars with that cat. Oh yeah, because it was in the kitchen and then it was the only one that really survived the fire and then came back at the end and was so like kind of whatever to Pandora in the kitchen, which was like weird that Suki was so like weird with the cat, and then she pixcept the cat. I feel like there's a lot of symbolism there, but I was not fully getting it. I was turned to you interesting. I was more jarred at the fact that a cat was in the kitchen, and I was like, oh, that thing came back. But right, but like, aren't pregnant people? Isn't there some issue with cats and pregnant people? Or is that the kitty litter kt litter? Okay, yeah, that's actually that is actually a real thing, right, Yeah, So I don't know that they can actually have that cat right now? What's what is the deal? You're not supposed to have cats if you're pregnant. The kitty litter has like some toxins in it that you can't get around. What happens if you have a cat, like you can't you can't change the litter, so someone else has to do that. Yeah, that makes that scares me. But okay, random mandion of the day. Okay, so okay, what did we all think of Jess and Walmart? And clearly he's not going to school? But what talk about it? I'm shocked it took this long for someone to realize because like, don't has no one seen him at school? And like said anything like n has been going on? Lena is really not doing her Job's not clearly neither is the Tool administration. Yeah, like wouldn't wouldn't Luke at a phone call if Jess is just not at school? Yeah, even after like I think two days? Like I think one day is fine, but after two days, wouldn't they call you? I don't know, I just that whole target's getting employer Walmart? And then Laurela faith her fake delight at it, like I did find it really interesting that they described him as Mr. Reliable and their go to guys. We're talking about Jess, Like what, but he's obviously very high I Q. Yeah, he's just too rebellious for his own good. He's too damaged for his own good. He could be, you know, working at NASA for God's sake, he just is. It's a way, it's a tragic situation where this kid is going to waste his potential on his you know, because of his upbringing, and there's nothing anybody can do for him. And it's really sad. It's really really sad. He said it himself. He knows how smart he is. It's like, I can absorb this. I can absorb this stuff in ten minutes. It takes these kids. Even Dean's going to college, Jess can literally be at any school he wants. I just don't think I've ever seen Luke. I don't know. I guess, on on the one hand, so so likable and so proud of Jess and pat himself on the back, and at the same time, compared to what he's doing so pathetic. That's like, I mean, I know, you're like the glow with Harvard Nuts That's really big, isn't it. That's huge Jaz and Harvard Princeton. You know that's really quite an accomplishment. Well, you know, why is he throwing in this like lame accomplished? It's like, what how is he even saying this to her knowing that she's a Gilmore, knowing that she's not going to, you know, be throwing any parties for Jeff. He knows she hates Jeff, her daughter, she got into Harvard person. And this guy is trying to brag on Jess about how he got employee at the month of Walmart. You know I shouldn't say this. I can't help myself. It makes me think about a year in the life because Jess turns out so good, arguably better than our Well you can't, no, no, you can't ruin anything. Sorry. Oh wait, I'm there's Easter eggs being dropped and I'm not picking them up. What happened? Don't worry abou or the people caught it, caught it. People caught it, caught it. The people that didn't didn't. Is this my time to say that I read a comment that yes, yes, yes, ruined a lot for me on the Instagram, So when we were all logging in today, Danielle said, Oh, I saw something on the Instagram, so tell us what it was. I'm gonna say spoiler alert for the first time one person that hasn't seen this show any time. I didn't know that that would be okay, well, Scott, plug your ears. Um, I didn't know that Dean was her first for you? Yes, yeah, put it back on pour. Scott's like, doesn't. We had to mime to him. So it's not that bad of a spoiler. What's worse is you know it hasn't happened yet and the way it happened. Yeah, yeah, we'll get there. But well, now I'm just like palms are wedding thinking about it, like, oh, something bad really happened. That's the time when I've seen Lorelai be so disappointed in Rory. It is like gutting me right now thinking about it. Okay, well, don't tell me anymore. Is it coming up soon though? Like? Can I at least like get that? But also not too long? Yeah, big timeline, it's not that long, but there's so many things ahead. It's it's not the end of the show. Okay, Wait, should we talk about for a second, the Poet Society because the whole Poe thing. First of all, I'm not familiar with Poe, but I did laugh hard when they said we're not Trekkers, and so part I'm sorry, you're right Trekkys because the actual, the proper name is Trekker, so being one. Yeah, and by the way, another tragic loss, Michelle Nichols Huru has passed away. So now we only have to left. We have Captain Kirk and we have Sulu. All So, I just saw Shatner at at Durham, at Raleigh. He was a person. Is he not epic? You know he's in his nineties. Yeah, I know, I know. We sit there and we sit there and listen to him spin yards. Do people just like kind of google gaga over him because he's hurt what he's currently? I bet they give him a wide berth. You know, he's he's a little you know, he's a little he's a little standoffish. You need to give hugs, hugging everything. Nobody's trying to hug him, they're just you know, where did you see him at one of your conventions? In the green room? Yeah, because you know, you take you take breaks. Oh my God, that's even better. I like talking about we we we shared a sandwhich is captain give me a line the line I was just gonna stand in line. No, he's in the green room. We're eating food with him. He's telling stories. We're telling stories. We were interested. We were interested in his stories. He wasn't interested in ours. He gives you a funny look, he looks like like, well, he's like, I just went to space, dude. Yeah, good, what can you tell me? What could you your Gilmore Girls stories? That's me just being funny. Okay, So back on the Poe. Okay, so Poe. Is anyone familiar with Poe or is there any Yeah? I mean sure, we all read it up. I honestly, I just it just that fell flat for me. That whole post thing. I didn't think too funny, yard and campy or over the top or whatever. Listen, Poe is a well known author, and everybody read The Raven in school and analyzed it and a book report on it and all that kind of stuff. But he's not so well known where you can riff off and do like really cool jokes and everybody's going to get it. And plus they didn't even do it. They you know, they missed an opportunity for the two pos to go at it and miss patties. But these guys didn't have any time clock. I think I would have actually rather be a bunch of trekkers trek ease, because that would have been funny for me to watch. But yeah, or making a little more pop culture instead of so high falutint poe right. I did like how Laura Lae and Rory was just like, oh my god, we have to sit through this whole thing again because they had to compare right and that and that means and that means we had to sit through the whole thing again. And I was like, oh time two flawlessly acted I rolls, Lindsay's I roll and the cold subtle I roll because it was very subtle, but you could tell like oh wow, and then that Rory's like, oh, you're getting a little no, I'm sorry, Laura Lae says to Rory, oh looks like you're getting a little uh lindsay eyroll coming from Nicole Basically stars hollow people just not acting right, man. It's like, what's happening? And here's a pen I need it back. It's like boring pose and eye rolls. What's going on? No? I loved I actually love the post scene because of what was happening in the audience. Like, for me, that was the best part, Like all the eye rolling and we're realizing, oh they're together and they're together, and Luke's not wearing a hat and miss Patty was so stoic and let me sum it up for you here. Okay. The best lines that came out of that post stuff was Michelle when he referred to the DNA and children into the you know, the great lineing and and he could have riffed and tar you right if it was Star Treker was something a little more low brow, then Laura La and Michelle could have gone off on them, I mean really gone off on them and had a lot more fun with this happen. Michelle had some good lines. He said, stop trying to cute things up? Did I say that part already? Stop trying to cute things up? I mean every line from Michelle was genius. Everything everything, everything was home run. It's probably his best for me. This was one of the I laughed out loud every time he opened his mouth. Very single game. I actually laughed out last yea, what did you think of the sort of confrontation between Dean Lindsay, Rory Lorelai and the Mark Twain story. I was just cringe. I thought it was just like they're bound to run into each other. It's you know, I didn't think too much of it, but it was nice to see that, Like Dean was excited to tell Rory that, like he got into college, and you can tell he really wanted to tell her. You know, I gotta give it to Dean, like he he is totally coming back around, and now I love him again and he's a little sweet little boy again doing good. You know, he's back to being Dean. Yeah, and I don't know that the who's the girl that he's dating? What's her name? Lindsey? Yeah, it's like give her, give her some spice, you know, give her something, give her, give her something. She just didn't say anything. She dirty looks and she's like, I gotta go. And the big story that said she was so nice and then they walked away. I was like, so, so she was nice, right, but I mean there was like nothing there there was she wasn't giving anything. It was like parallel to Nicole and Scott and the Loralae incident that we talked about for at Nauseum is these people are threatened. Lindsay is threatened by Rory. Of course god, oh no, Scott's taking his glasses off his got something. I got one hard for you about this episode? Uh forced m h. I mean I disagree on I disagree to disagree with the disagree with me. I disagree with Scott for of it minutes one through thirty two, great, yeah, disagree forced then thirty two through forty whatever for me parts I understand you're not crazy, You're not. I think the Pope element, that's what it is. Yeah, I could have done without. I could have done with that without Paul. I think that was probably it. I appreciate the attempt. You know, I didn't. I didn't. I didn't like it. I didn't like it, but I liked What did it add to the episode? How is it relevant to the episode? Well? I do like the element that the end was full. I mean, I I the fire. To me, I wouldn't have done away with even though I'm not saying I'm promoting fire, but I'm saying that. Really I liked all the the people of the and having to be put up, and you see that everybody's taking people in and Luke is opening you know, like the diner, like just like and then first you and Suki are going at it, and then at the end you're like, let me put some you know whatever. So I sort of like it as the device. So obviously they needed some reason to get all these people into the inn. But like I said, I would have been fine with a Brady Bunch convention. You know, I will funch of Marsha's and Jam's walking around. So you haven't enjoyed that for the last scene, I think the reason why it got me so much, And Amy, I know you, Amy knows like Amy and I are on the same page with this. But Laurel I obviously put all that stuff up on her walls. But then you realize that she's going to have to pay not only for Yale, but she's gonna have to figure out how to make her business like come back, and she's gonna have to pay for you know, she's not well, she doesn't totally know that they're going to pay for She doesn't want to be bound, but she doesn't want to be bound to her parents. But so but also like I think loyalized goal in the end is to support her kid, and she also wants to have this business. So like I thought the way they did it, where it went from like the end to the bedroom with the Yale posters, was so like Rory's about to have the best time of her life and Lorelie doesn't know what's next for her future of her business at the same whole thing apart. I now go back and watch it, and then you'll you'll, yeah, right, there's great symbolism there with the in burning down and it's they thought they were going to make dinner that night but they did not realize the damage. Then we have that, you know, mirror to Yale and and Rory really realizing I'm going to Yale and the significance of that. The only part I'm not getting is Papaya the cat. There's more to the cat. The cat, I don't know. I can't tell you that. I couldn't tell you the symbolism up, but yeah, I think there's just it just really set up like the next I mean, the next half of the show basically, that's right, right, Yeah, that was cute at the end because there's so many things we can be thinking about so, like Danielle, aren't you thinking about so? Because Danielle hasn't seen it, let's ask her, like, what do you think about the fact that she picked Yale. I'm happy for her. I think that's cool. She Uh. The only thing that I'm going to say now is I'm hoping she's not doing it because it's closest to home. That's the one thing that I'm like, I hope she's not doing it for that reason and she feels like she needs to be here for her mom and for jess Um. I'm hoping she's doing it because she actually wants to be there, which based off of when she visited Yale, I did get that impression. You haven't mentioned Richard and Emily and Richard of her is doing it because of Richard. I think that's at the end. I think like, first comes being close to mom, second comes being close to jess Third because Grandpa went there and that's cool, you know, Like, but I mean, maybe I'm wrong, but I'm just hoping she's doing it because she truly in her heart that's where she wants to go, and not because of those other factors. Do you want to know what would have made this a great episode if you if you get rid of all the post stuff and you put Richard and Emily in it, into the process of the pro con list. And oh, by the way, mom, dad, she got accepted to Princeton and Yale. So that would have been complications city man on steroids because of all the back and forth. What's she gonna do? So right exactly, So that would have been one hell of a Friday night dinner all right with everybody? Yeah, man, and I just like, where was it? And we've got to deal with this post stuff? Does this? And we spoiler a lord, but does this occur? Does this? I mean this is coming right, They're gonna they're gonna drag it out through several episodes and maybe I don't know, there's definitely the reveal to Richard that she's going to Yale. But what what a hell of an episode this could have been with such a monumental decision, and we've been waiting for this decision for you know, the better part of three seasons, and there's no Richard and Emily participation in this monumental episode. It was a huge missed opportunity. You're actually totally right, because the payoff of her choosing Yale is very subdued. Yeah, which I love, But she didn't. She hasn't officially accepted though, Like she hasn't like signed the paperwork that she's going to Yale. It's just like on their prose cons list, like she's going to Yale. But this is a drama, right, is a comedy and drama. So the drama that could have been played out with this decision with Emily and Drichard involved could have spawned the best comedy that the show is, the type of comedy this show is known for. I see it. I was surprised that no one went. They didn't go to Richard and Emily is to stay like she went to Lanes instead. I thought she would just go stay with Richard. And that's so far. It's like an hour away? Cool? Is it an hour? How far is it? Thirty minutes? Maybe thirty minutes? And she's like, you know, Richard's paying for this. Children, they're paying for it, and they didn't get to participate in the episode, so I thought, I don't know. I felt as a fan, I felt cheated. I think that's you'll be pleased that's coming. Yeah, I better think there's more to it. I do have a bone to pick with a question mark because we sort of I forgot to say this earlier. So Paris talks about I'm going back to that scene with Paris. Paris talks about how she told her mom that she slept with Jamie, right, and then she talks about how her mom cringe e gross gross gross, says how the she say, yeah, her father hasn't pleased like fifteen years. But here's my question, aren't they divorced? I thought Paris's parents were getting divorced? Right? Oh yeah, I forgot about that, So I don't know if that's a bone to pick or like if it was sort of like because it's not, we don't know that they officially got divorced or maybe she said maybe ever in their relationshippearance are like gone somewhere, So it's like debate what's going on? Yeah, that's interesting. I have a bone to pick. Why does everyone have a twin bed that was mine? Why are the beds so dark? Small? Luke is not sleeping in a twin that That's why I was like, what is that bed? All of them? Every bed you have? The couple in r I have the answer. You know what the answer is, shooting no no, no, no no no. Stars Hollow is supposed to be an historic town, right, So the houses are much smaller, the rooms are much smaller, the ceilings are much lower. That's how historic homes were built. They were you know, this whole supersizing house. This is a new thing. So single beds fit. But the couple in the twin bed, yeah a couple. Where who the couple that stayed in the one bedroom right that she's hoping don't like fool around? Yeah, well that they didn't design the room for a couple to fool around. And can somebody tell me play that little kid? Because that guy looked familiar? Who played that little guy? He definitely has continued to like, Well try to let's try to find that out while I talk about some fashion that Dennis Quaid I don't know, No love Dennis Quaid. Donnis Quaid is your um great lore line looking good the whole episode. I loved her in the post theater scene or whatever with the black leather jacket, which I also thought is very interesting that lukewar is almost the same leather jacket. She's got the v neck black sweater I loved her hair. I just thought, whoa, well, that's just as that's just a Northeast thing, you know. The black leather jacket, that's that's smart of the uniform. Good. She's probably my standout fashion moment just throughout. She just looks great. Mm hmm, no question. Yeah, Oh, Ryan Malgarini. While you guys talk, I'm gonna look up what other things. Brian melgar playing Freaky Friday. Yeah, I knew it. Yes, the one with Lindsy Lohan. He's the brother. I knew it. Oh my god, job, he's her little brother. He's durable in it. Uh oh, he is a kid down. Let's track that kid. That guy, Oh my god, he's so much older now. Time moves on moves on. Whoa, he's like an adult now, damn him? Can you can you? We gotta get that eye on's he's still working well. His last credit was yeah right, but that was like a minute ago. He did an episode of Mike and Molly. His bio on his Instagram is I used to act as a kid. Now I just act like one. We gotta get the line of the day. You gotta get him cute. Got any bones to pick other than the whole thing, nom de boned. How are you feeling in general about Luke right now? Just how are you feeling about him? Um? I like to know how I Uh, I like where he is? Yeah, I like where he is. I think that he Uh. Do you like Nicole? I think? I don't think Nicole matters. I think I think, but I think he she's he has gained psychological advantage at this point. And the little chess match between these two, right, well, it's interesting. After we talked to the real life Nicole how she said, you're playing her too likable because she's not one bit likable in this episode at all. Right, yuh yeah, okay, well bye bye. That's how that's it. Bye bye. Okay. I'll leave you on one really good best line. It's from Lord Lee to Rory, and she goes, if it's right for you, it's really right for me. Like that's a let's do best lines, let's do best lines. It's all gonna be Michelle. That's how I feel. Yes, I totally agree. Just Michelle hiring right exactly. I like when when Laurla and we'll talk about this in pop culture, but when she lists all the different ends, like the sugar Bear, and he's like every place that sounds like Glenda the Good Witch everything. This was his best so far this episode. He saved it for me when Paris said she did she didn't deserve general Hospital. Yeah. I don't like strangers using my toilet. Oh my god, Michelle is me? Do you? Guys don't remember, he says, because they said, can someone say your house? Because I don't like strangers using my toilet? Absolutely agree either. But I think I wish I had a half bath, like I have two bedrooms two bathrooms in my house, which I had two and a half bath because then that half is just always relegated to strangers. I have that, I have that here, the half. Yeah, you have two and a half. Two and a half. You're living the dream. People don't people two and a half bathrooms? They're living the dream. Those people with five bathrooms though, rich people, what I can't even imagine? Can you? Does anyone have five bathrooms? Five bathrooms at home? My old house My old house had six so rich, Oh my god. And then and then one in the garage as well. What girl's money can get you seven bathrooms? You want the best? I can use a different toilet every day of the week can be that green thing right there? Do you see it? Can you see it's portable? That's my bathroom in my garage. That's literally it's a camping toilet. Pret weared my And there's my alarm clock. Hello Kitty. That should be on the Instagram. What it's like to not be Scott Patterson. But it's like to be on I didn't build the house, I just bought it. Bravo to Michelle.
