Three women were shot in the chaos, including 21-year-old Sheeyta Elaine Herrin, who did not survive. Minutes later, a second shooting was reported across town, leaving two additional people injured. Investigators said some of the individuals involved in the second shooting had been at the American Legion earlier that night, but exactly how the incidents are connected remains unclear. More than five years later, Sheeyta Herrin’s homicide remains unsolved, and the question of who was responsible continues to linger.

More than a decade later, the question of what happened during that short walk remains unanswered, and her family continues to search for answers.
