Encore: SmartFlyer’s Erina Pindar on How Her Childhood in Asia Shaped Her Worldview, Plus the 411 on Branding

View descriptionShare

SmartFlyer is highly respected in the tourism industry, and those familiar with the luxury travel agency probably know the name Erina Pindar, as well. As SmartFlyer’s managing director, Pindar has helped to define the company’s brand vision and voice over the last 10 years. Today, she also oversees its business development initiatives; assists with its online and social media presence; and much more. Not to mention, Pindar continues to design custom itineraries for SmartFlyer’s top-level clients.

Though she often jets around the world for both work and play, Pindar actually discovered her love for traveling at a young age. Born in Jakarta, Indonesia, she spent much of her childhood traveling in Asia, all before immigrating to the U.S. — specifically, to a small town outside Charlotte, N.C. — as a teenager.

In today’s episode of Humans of Travel, Pindar looks back at that pivotal time of her life. She also discusses a changing travel industry, including her thoughts on being an influential voice — especially for young people of color.
