  • Authorities say two people have been rescued more than six hours after their single-engine plane crashed and got stuck in some live power lines in Maryland.
  • There has been renewed discussion over gun control following two mass shootings this past week.
  • Chinese authorities have eased some anti-virus rules but affirmed their severe “zero COVID” strategy after protesters demanded President Xi Jinping resign in the biggest show of opposition to the ruling Communist Party in decades.
  • Ukraine is preparing for more Russian strikes and has warned of the possibility of a new round of evacuations from the capital of Kyiv.
  • The U.S. Soccer Federation briefly displayed Iran’s national flag on social media without the emblem of the Islamic Republic. The federation described the move as a show of support for protesters in Iran ahead of the two nations’ World Cup match Tuesday.
  • The United States’ 0-0 draw against England in the World Cup drew 19.98 million viewers for English- and Spanish-language broadcasts. It was the third-most watched men’s soccer game on U.S. television behind the 2010 and 2014 finals.
  • In sports, the Bengals pulled out a nice win at Tennessee, NFL underdogs had their day, namely the Jaguars, Browns and Raiders, the Celtics continued to have their way in the NBA, the upstart Kraken continued to amaze in the NHL and at the World Cup, Germany and Spain are fit to be tied.
  • The Associated Press college football poll got a remake near the top thanks to four top-10 teams losing this past weekend.
  • Thanksgiving often serves up a feast of new family movies at the box office, but the Walt Disney Co.’s animated offering “Strange World” fizzled with audiences out of the gates.
  • Former President Donald Trump is drawing criticism for dining with Holocaust-denying white nationalist Nick Fuentes and the rapper formerly known as Kanye West.
  • Oscar, Golden Globe and two-time Grammy winning singer-actress Irene Cara, who starred in and sang the title cut from the 1980 hit movie “Fame” and then belted out the era-defining hit “Flashdance ... What a Feeling” from 1983′s “Flashdance,” has died. She was 63.
  • Macao has tentatively renewed the casino licenses of MGM Resorts, Las Vegas Sands, Wynn Resorts and three Chinese rivals after they promised to help diversify the economy by investing in non-gambling attractions.
