Pushkin, What is wrong with me?
Why am I sitting around yelling at a television getting gross and disappointed and frustrated and bad.
It's hard enough being a sports fan. The highs and lows, the weird traditions, the cost of box seats or nosebleed seats. It gets more expensive year after year, and they know you'll pay because you're a fan. Your team matters to your life. You wear their colors, you follow their dramas. Would you bet your life on your team?
Well now you can.
I ended up with close to sixty thousand dollars bet on the Super Bowl.
I still to this day have never watched that game. I was too nervous. Has it kind of played out as you imagined? Bigger, bigger than I have ever imagined. Now everybody could just sit there on their couch betting in real time on games that are going on.
I'm Michael Lewis in the next season of Against the Rules. I'm going along on sports betting, America's new form of legalized gambling.
It's changing what it means to be a player, just like a killer fungus. You didn't see the Supreme Court decision coming, Absolutely not. I was totally blindsided. Sports betting is changing the world of bookies too.
I'm bans from several sports books throughout the country.
I have to rely on what we call beards. I get the lowdown on addiction.
Gambling apps are preying on the gambler's total uncertainty about what they're going to get.
It sort of exceeds the capacity of the brain, and you really just get caught in this flow.
Most of all, I want to understand what the rise of sports betting is doing to us as fans.
One lady said that the night before her football team's games, for good luck, she makes her husband make love to her wearing the team's jersey and socks and the team's colors.
And if that doesn't make your own socks go up and down, I'm roaming America placing my own bets.
I'm a calm better I'm not going to cheer. I got ice war in my veins. I just care about my process. It's pulling my bets out of my ass. That's my process.
Oh my god, it happened.
Oh no, I lost? How did this happen?
Against the rules?
Season four drops September twenty fourth, and you can bet on.
