Caleb Flynn has been sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole for the murder of his wife, Ashley Flynn — but the most unforgettable moments came before the judge handed down the sentence.

On today’s Hot Mics with Billy Bush, Billy is joined by East Idaho News reporter Nate Eaton, who was inside the courtroom for Caleb Flynn’s emotional sentencing hearing. Nate reveals what the cameras didn’t capture as Flynn broke down, apologized for his affair and the lies he told — but then stunned the courtroom by maintaining: “I did not kill my wife.”

Then Billy breaks down the most powerful victim impact statements from Ashley Flynn’s family.

Ashley’s father, Todd Smith, tells Caleb that the family forgives him — while demanding “absolute justice.” Brother-in-law Matthew Keyt makes an emotional promise to help raise Ashley and Caleb’s two daughters. Ashley’s sister Kayla Keyt confronts the betrayal of a man the family once trusted while explaining why she refuses to let Caleb’s actions destroy their Christian faith.

But the most devastating words come from Caleb Flynn’s own daughters.

Their heartbreaking letters confront their father over their mother’s murder, his affair and the destruction of their family — while pleading with him to finally tell the truth and repent. The emotional statements left Caleb visibly shaken before Judge Jeannine Pratt sentenced the former pastor and American Idol contestant to life without parole.

Billy and Nate also examine a major revelation from prosecutors: allegations that Caleb instructed his daughters on what to tell investigators following Ashley’s murder — information that did not emerge publicly during the trial. They also discuss Flynn’s planned appeal, what happens next and whether he will ever admit responsibility.

PLUS: New developments in the Cornell University Jane Doe case.

Another secretly recorded phone call has surfaced involving Winston Lee, one of the former Chi Phi fraternity members named in Jane Doe’s lawsuit. Billy examines the recording, the growing controversy over what happened after the alleged assault, and the questions surrounding consent, alcohol, drugs, trauma and whether the identities of accused students should become public before criminal charges are filed.

Meanwhile, the controversy at Cornell University is intensifying. Students have taken to the Ithaca campus demanding justice for Jane Doe as the case becomes a national flashpoint over campus sexual assault, Greek life, university accountability and the handling of allegations against members of the Chi Phi fraternity.

Billy also weighs in on where the Cornell protests are headed — and why vandalism and political mission creep could undermine legitimate questions about how Cornell and law enforcement handled the original allegations.

COMING UP ON HOT MICS: Billy sits down with high-profile defense attorney Alan Jackson, plus an interview with Alleigha Botner’s attorney following Caleb Flynn’s conviction and sentencing.
