September 26 marks the annual Eastern Orthodox and Byzantine-rite commemoration of the Repose of the Holy Apostle and Evangelist John the Theologian. The Feast of Saint John, Apostle and Evangelist is also celebrated every year on December 27 by Catholic and Protestant Lutheran & Anglican Churches.
