The feast day of Saint Gregory the Great (540-604) is celebrated on September 3 (anniversary of his ordination as pope in 590 AD) in the Roman Catholic Church and on March 12 (the date of his death) in the Eastern Orthodox Church and Protestant Anglican & Lutheran Churches.
