The Memorial of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of the Church, is celebrated every year on the Monday following Pentecost. Instituted by Pope Francis in 2018, the memorial honors Mary as the spiritual mother of all believers and the Church as the Mystical Body of Christ. The date was chosen intentionally, as Pentecost is considered the "birthday of the Church," and Mary was present with the Apostles during this event.
