Celebrated on the Sunday after Easter, that is the Second Sunday of Easter, Divine Mercy Sunday is a major feast day in the Catholic Church dedicated to the devotion of God's mercy. Instituted by Pope St. John Paul II in 2000, it stems from revelations to St. Faustina Kowalska (1905-38), offering complete forgiveness of sins and punishment, that is, a plenary indulgence, to those who receive Communion and go to confession. Let's learn more about the theological significance of this feast for many Christians around the world with bible scholar Bishop Robert Barron.
