She is known as the Apostle to the Apostles and was from the town of Magdala on the Sea of Galilee, for which reason she is called Magdalene. Saint Mary Magdalene’s story describes her as one of the first witnesses to the Resurrection of Jesus of Nazareth, and the first to proclaim it.
