High school sports coping with new reality

View descriptionShare

Lakota West football coach Tom Bolden admits he's looking a bit like Tom Hanks in "Cast Away" in speaking to a pigskin by himself these days.

While schools are closed in Ohio amid the coronavirus pandemic, coaches like Bolden are trying to make the best use of their time without having contact with their student-athletes.

Bolden was able to work out with two of his sons, Miami University sophomore linebacker Luke Bolden and Lakota West 2023 quarterback Mitchell Bolden at the family home.

Bolden discussed the situation with winter and spring sports and how he's using the extra time to delve into playbook this week to improve the Firebirds. He also had a message for those looking for inspiration during this time of uncertainty and isolation.

You will also hear from OHSAA Executive Director Jerry Snodgrass as he discusses the latest situation with winter sports tournaments, the spring season and how the OHSAA staff is preparing for fall sports.
