Recently a retirement party was held for Jerry Bockman at The Tulsa Theater. Jerry has worked for Little Wing Productions & countless others for many years. Jerry was responsible for making many shows happen in Oklahoma. He is a living legend & someone we all looked up to in this business. There is a reason so many people were influenced by & only wanted to work with Jerry, because they knew the day was going to go smoothly & no problem would go unsolved. Max & Jeff spent many years working with Jerry, working production, While we were at Jerry's retirement party, Max & Jeff got to talk to Steve Ray from Pitbulls on Crack, Gary Thomas from GT Security, & the man himself, Jerry Bockman. We will also hear what Larry Schaeffer from Little Wing Productions had to say from the podium, as well as Gary Thomas & of course we had to record what Max Baker Jr. had to say. Bustin' Loose.... Max Baker Jr. gets busted out of the Hospital... Just in case you haven't been following along with the latest adventures in Max's life, he had a total knee replacement surgery... Episode 92.... Max talks about a custom painting of Keith Richards that hangs in Max's house. Its been a waiting game for Max & getting a new knee... Max's surgery got put on hold momentarily so he decided to record another episode instead of impatiently waiting. We pick up the story discussing Max & Jeff's road songs. When you're a concert promoter, sometimes shows do well, sometimes they don't... We discuss a Hot Hot Heat show at the Diamond that wasn't attended that well, followed by a Shiny Toy Guns show the next night that was packed. Max has a visitor from Texas who wants a medical card!  On the last episode we ended discussing the make up Red Hot Chili Peppers make up show that had Mickey Avalon, rather than Gnarls Barkley. This is going to be hard to believe but we discuss a Mastodon & Priestess show at the Diamond Ballroom in 2007, roughly 300 people were in attendance.... Completely blows my mind!!!!!! He recognized the photo & the vendor confirmed, it was indeed from a photo that Max had taken!!!!!! We also discuss an absolutely incredible metal show that came through the Cains Ballroom in Tulsa, Oklahoma.... Lamb of God, Trivium, Machinehead, & Gojira!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Another legendary show we discuss is the Red Hot Chili Peppers make up show at the Cox Convention Center... Originally the show had Gnarls Barkley as the opener, a snow storm cancelled the original date... The make up date featured Mickey Avalon as the opener instead, & OKC did not like Mickey's performance at all... So much so, they loudly boooooooooo'd during his entire performance.. Extremely Loud Boo's!!!!!! So much so, Flea came out very pissed off & let the fans know exactly how he felt about their behavior!

The laughter ensues as we envision Max doing donuts & burnouts through the Casino floor. This month, Jason DeFord aka Jelly Roll, spoke & testified in front of the Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs as ranking member Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC) continued to push for the passage of his bill, the Fentanyl Eradication and Narcotics Deterrence (FEND) Off Fentanyl Act. We all watched his speach to Congress & we discuss how impressive his words truly were! If you haven't seen it, you need to look it up! In the last episode we discussed Max & Jeff's roadtrip to Dallas to go see Mr. Big on their farewell tour. We always say, Buy The Ticket & Take The Ride, so in this episode we discuss upcoming shows in 2024 that we want to see. 

As we begin 2024, and pass the anniversary of Max's fall in 2009, sending him down this path, we discuss some of the things he's had to endure as well as discuss the holidays & what we've been up to the last few weeks. We talk about Max's favorite way to buy Jewelry.... He prefers the gold chains when they're fresh off the boat... or Lincoln Navigator from Dubai! Suicide Boy$ & support acts included Ghostemane, City Morgue, Freddie Dredd, Sematary, and Ramirez. Max Baker Jr., Austin Baker & Kayli took a road trip to Red Rocks for the Grey Day Tour 2023. All road trips with Max are an adventure, that will include a few mishaps as well as a few stories that will last a lifetime. We will call this episode, "VACATION WITH THE BAKERS" 

We begin Episode 78 discussing Record Store Day & what Max scored.... Electric Wheelchair's & the aisle's at Record Stores, usually do not agree with each other... Add all of the vinyl enthusuasts who shop on Record Store Day, Guaranteed Max ran over someones foot in his quest for Record Store Day Exculsives at Guestroom Records. We also discuss one of the most famous pictures of Max Baker Jr., Naked, wearing a tire, holding a pool cue as a spear, which became an internet sensation as a meme. We pick up the story in 2006 & wrap up the year.... Did you ever think you'd be setting there at an Oklahoma Casino playing slot machines & Chubby Checker comes twistin' along on top of them?!?! We discuss that as we end 2006.

Hello - Hooray - Let The Show Begin.... Episode 77 begins with bobble head Alice Cooper joining us!!! We also have a discussion about Leon Russell as well as another legendary Piano player, The Killer, Jerry Lee Lewis. 

We finally made it to this legendary show at the Zoo Amp in OKC.  The Flaming Lips - UFO's at the Zoo! (which is available on DVD) This show was one of the most epic shows ever at the Zoo. Everything from Wayne being lowered onto the stage from a UFO, to him getting in the bubble & walking out onto the crowd. There were so many people at the Zoo for this show, the security guards & police, stepped away from the gates & let everyone inside the venue... Literally the most people i've ever seen at the Zoo. The end of this episode we revisit a Lynyrd Skynyrd show that happened at the Buffalo Run in Miami where the show almost didn't happen from a mishap on the stage. 

In episode 75, we discuss something different from the Live Music / Concert Industry... One of Max's companies, The Fabulous Baker Boys were hired to provide labor for The Major League Baseball, World Series Champions, Texas Rangers Parade & Celebration. This was a massive event with almost a million people invading Arlington, TX.... As Max always says, "someones got to build it & make it happen".... That is what The Fabulous Baker Boys Do!!!!! We often say this show, or that show was Legendary, or a historic event.... This one truly was Legendary.... So many people in one place. A logistical nightmare... Working events like this are not for the weak or faint of heart. When the pressure is on, & the clock is ticking, quitting is not an option, that is when The Fabulous Baker Boys shine & the job gets done... GO RANGERS!!!!

May 20th 2006, Hank Williams III & Assjack & special guests: The Murder Junkies at the Diamond Ballroom. We discuss each of our experiences with Hank 3. We are all big fans of his music & the evolution of it. The Grand Theater in Durant, OK at the Choctaw Casino has become a destination that artists demand to play. Its always on the list of tour dates when Hank Williams Jr. decides to play some shows. After Hank 3, we discuss another metal show at the Diamond w/ Devildriver, Bury Your Dead, & more... Believe it or not, Panic! at the Disco played the Diamond Ballroom on what may have been their very first Oklahoma tour date... There are several shows at numerous venues that include Kyle Gas & Trainwreck, Ted Nugent, Crooked X, Huck Johns, Flyleaf, Korn, Dir En Grey & more... We end discussing a Juggalo show w/ Blaze Ya Dead Homie and special guest: TRIP C!!!!!!!

We begin Episode 73 with a round of the Guessing Game, sending Max into reminiscing about his teen years in the 70's... We also get a Morse Code lesson from Josh. The legend Alice Cooper & his band came through Enid Oklahoma, Max & Jeff took a road trip & set front row! There was a 2023 Max & Oliver Magnum reunion that took place in the lobby of that show. Max & Jeff also discuss their incredible culinary experiences in Crescent, Oklahoma. We pick up the story on May 12th, 2006 with another Styx & REO Speedwagon show at the Zoo Amp. 

In this episode we pick up the story in 2006 where we talk about a dual stage, local metal show at the Cains Ballroom w/ 80 Proof, Seperation From All, Wither, Trip C, & Ten more bands. We also discuss shows with Staind, Aaron Lewis, Avenged Sevenfold, Halestorm, Chevelle & More. 

Episode 71 brings us our first repeat guest, as we partied at the moon tower & had a killer time w/ Mike Cook (see what i did there?!?!, killers of the flower moon & killer time... nevermind lol )... We always have a great time with Mike. The connection that he & Max have is undeniable. Earlier this year, the reality show that Mike was a cast member of, "Ride of Your Life w/ Courtney Hansen" that aired on MOTORTREND TV wrapped up airing of Season 1. While Mike was in the middle of filming season 1 for that show, He got a call about an audition for an upcoming movie being filmed in Oklahoma. Little did he know that it was a Martin Scorsese production and would be his film adaptation of the book, "Killers of The Flower Moon" which was based on true events that took place in Oklahoma. Those of you who know Mike, know immediately that he was nailing this audition & scoring this role, without question!!! We discuss what the audition process was like as well as shooting the film & how he was able to keep his shoes clean while in costume. Mike has appeared on Ride of Your Life w/ Courtney Hansen, Monster Garage w/ Jesse James, Americas Got Talent, American Daredevil, MTV / Matt Hoffman & Jackass's Tribute to Evel Knievel & several others.

September 6th, 1980, "Roklahoma" was held in Norman, Oklahoma at Owen Field with over 30,000 people in attendance for Pat Benatar, Sammy Hagar, Van Halen and Doobie Brothers. In 2007, Rocklahoma as we know it began in Pryor, Oklahoma. There was a group of individuals involved in the rebooting of the festival into a multiday, 1980's Hair Metal Festival. Max Baker Jr. was one of those individuals who helped reboot it as we discuss with Chipz Enuff in an earlier episode of this podcast. In this episode, Max, Jeff, & Jay are joined by Dani, Miss Rocklahoma 2023 and we discuss the process of entering the contest, what it was like finding out you've made it to the next round, then onto the finals, & ultimately winning, as well as how Max & Dani met at a Garth Brooks concert at the Diamond Ballroom.

LEMMY KILMISTER... THE LOST INTERVIEW - By David Huff Jr. / JAM Magazine - 1986 October 23rd, 1986, Motorhead was on the "Orgasmatron" Tour Cycle & played at the Ritz Music Hall in Corpus Christi, TX. October 24th they were in San Antonio, & October 25th in Dallas, TX at the Longhorn Ballroom, the same venue where Max interviewed Joey Ramone. The day of the Corpus show, David Huff Jr. from JAM Magazine, interviewed Lemmy Kilmister over the phone from the JAM Magazine Offices. Jeff Brownen, discovered this lost interview tape buried in a time capsule in Max's back yard. After hours & hours of grueling labor. Digging until the buried treasure was discovered. Jay Ramone took the time to digitize this interview & clean up the audio as best as possible. In this episode we will listen & comment on this rare interview with Lemmy of Motorhead from 1986. 

Episode 65 - We start off by trying to guess what Emerson Lake & Palmer song Max is talking about, he gives us no details, so Jay Ramone responds with wrong answers only... Max's adventures continue with stories about Chuck Berry playing the casino circuit, briefcase in hand.... 

We start off Episode 64 reminiscing about the Episode we recorded with Max's sister Deana Baker & a weekend with John Pardi & John Fogerty. Then we return to 2005 where we discuss shows with Alter Bridge, Crossfade, & Submersed at the Cains Ballroom as well as a Meshuggah & Disjointed show in OKC at Bricktown Live. The All American Rejects are coming to the Zoo Amp in OKC in October, in this episode we talk about a pair of AAR shows in Tulsa & OKC as well as the history of AAR in the early days. Every year CANCER SUCKS puts on an annual concert at the Cains to raise money for cancer research. We discuss the early days of the cancer sucks concerts that were 10 Local Bands for $10, giving many bands an opportunity to play the Cains, who normally would not be able to grace that stage. 

Episode 63 begins with a compliment from one of our listeners, Rob Miller. Thanks for listening Rob!!!! The adventures begin in September 23rd, 2005 with the Cross Canadian Ragweed family jam. Before red dirt bands were trying to get their music played on Rock radio, like Koe Wetzel, Southall, Whiskey Myers, or artists like Jelly Roll getting played on country radio, the Oklahoma band Cross Canadian Ragweed held an annual event called The "Cross Canadian Ragweed Family Jam" where they added rock bands & other artists outside of the red dirt scene to the festival... Family Jam had rock bands like Tesla, Buckcherry, Toadies, & The Black Crowes.... They were so far ahead of their time!!!! 2005 saw Oklahoma natives Hinder release their major label debut on Universal Records & the CD release party with Winter Circle & Wither.... In true Max fashion, we discuss a legendary metal show at Bricktown Live with Unearth, Dillenger Escape Plan, Zao, & A Life Once Lost.... 

Episode 62 - We start in 2005, with a huge metal festival at the Brady Village in Tulsa & it was ridiculously hot outside... Sounds of the underground tour, July 2005.... Lamb of God, Norma Jean, Clutch, Opeth, Poison The Well, Everytime I Die, High on Fire, All That Remains, Devildriver, Gwar & several others, outside in downtown Tulsa!!!! Wall of Death!!!!!!

We begin this Episode discussing something you can't talk about in the State of Oklahoma without getting a little suspicious. After that, Max & Jeff discuss their long time friends Barney & Carla, whom they got to know over the years. They pay tribute to their friend Barney, who recently passed away.

After Max's excursion as Robert Plant's Chauffer through Oklahoma on old Route 66, the week continues to be busy for Max with shows from Ryan Cabrerra as well as the Wallflowers. We also discuss a couple of Slipknot shows that Max missed b/c he wasn't allowed in the building.... Fast Forward to 2023 & now there's actual former band members that aren't allowed inside the venue to see Slipknot... In the Music / Concert / Touring Industry, when your name is added to the "do not admit" list, its known as getting "Max Baker'd"... We also talk about the legend, Shelton Hank Williams III & some of his first shows, touring through Oklahoma w/ Assjack. If you got to see any of these Hank III shows, they were absolutely incredible. 

We pick up in 2005 on Episode 56 with Max heading back to OKC from Miami, Ok at a death metal show at Bricktown Live with Crytopsy. Brad White & Max Baker Jr. were building shows all over the state of Oklahoma. We look back at lots of adversity that Max faced after Choice Music burned down & how not being chained to Choice Music helped create the Baker Boys & Max building another company in a different avenue. Max also discusses being the runner for Robert Plant for 3 days straight and they travelled down old Route 66. Max took Robert Plant to see Cain's Ballroom at a Kings of Leon show. Jay Ramone actually got to meet Robert Plant that night at the Kings of Leon show... One of the most famous lines that everyone has heard Max say, "You wanna meet the band????"..... Well Max actually took Robert Plant backstage to meet Kings of Leon... HAPPY BIRTHDAY MAX BAKER JR! We decided to release this Episode on Max's Birthday (he doesn't know we decided to release it early for his bday)! March 20th, 1987, The Ramones were on the "Animal Boy" Tour which came through Dallas, TX at The Longhorn Ballroom (newly reopened BTW). This was the very first time Max had interviewed an artist. Up until this point as a journalist, he had only taken photographs for JAM Magazine. He hadn't actually interviewed anyone yet. Max has said for years that he had the cassette recording of him interviewing Joey Ramone backstage at the Longhorn Ballroom in Dallas, TX. None of us believed him, & we were wrong. He did indeed interview Joey Ramone. He found the cassette & we have digitized it & included the interview in this episode. The audio from this cassette has degraded over the years. There was a few hours of clean up work needed, just to be able to understand what Max & Joey are saying because of all of the noise & things going on in the Ramones dressing room while this interview was taking place. Marky is drumming on the table in the background the whole time. The rest of the band are carrying on with whatever conversations they were having, so there is a lot going on but we did our best to clean it up enough to be able to hear Max's questions, as well as Joey's answers.  On the Ramones - Animal Boy Tour, there were 2 setlists that were used but i couldn't find the exact setlist for the Dallas show. In Episode 54, Max & company discuss how Max picked up the pieces after Choice Music burned to the ground, benefit shows at both, Cains Ballroom & the Diamond Ballroom. We discuss the hate thrown towards Max on message boards & the internet. Like a phoenix, rising from the ashes, literally, Max picks himself up from being kicked back to the bottom, determined to keep going, he didn't come this far to lose.... These series of events is what gave birth to The Fabulous Baker Boys & Casino Entertainment. 

This begins Season 2 of The Here's The Deal Podcast - The Max Baker Jr. Story, Episode 53. In this episode we finish up 2004 & end with another one of Max's legendary stories about Hatebreed. 

September 7th, 2004 - Dog Fashion Disco, Tubring, & Bad Acid Trip at The Rockwell in Springfield Missouri. Max was in Ghetto Boys mode, his mind was playing tricks on him.... 2 days later there was a Killswitch Engage, Eighteen Visions, Autumn to Ashes, & 36 Crazyfists at the Cain's Ballroom in Tulsa, Oklahoma. September 11th, 2004 - Family Jam - Cross Canadian Ragweed & Gary Alan at the Zoo Amp in OKC, Followed by an Infinite Records Showcase in Tulsa w/ Rotting Cycle, 80 Proof, Disjointed, Separation from All, Wither & more... 10 Local Metal Bands on 2 Stages at the Cains Ballroom. Max & crew starts to do Concert Production for Casinos... Max got to be the runner for Scott Weiland with some Velvet Revolver shows. Driving Scott was always an adventure! Max gets into concert & event production at Casino's due to a catastrophic event in his life, causing him to literally pick up the pieces yet again when Choice Music burns to the ground in a fire.

We begin in June of 2004 w/ a mini gathering in OKC & an Infinite Records Showcase at Bricktown Live. Jeff Brownen finds an All Access Pass from a couple of Drowning Pool shows, one in Tulsa & one in OKC. The pass featured Moore, Oklahoma's own Jesse Jane. Seeing the picture of Jesse jogged Max's memory about being in a music video with Jesse Jane... Max played a preacher who got a lap dance from Jesse inside of a Church... The band was called "Shotgun Rebellion" & the song is called "Devil's Daughter" with the video shot & produced by Clark Deal at 3130 Studios & is available to stream on Youtube. Max's Mom was not impressed with his acting debut... HAHAHAHA!!!! One of the biggest bands in the world in 2023 is The Killers, who are selling out Arena's & Stadiums, Max discusses a show w/ The Killers live at Bricktown Live in 2004, a less than 500 capacity venue, where tickets were less than $10.... Every band has to start somewhere....
