On the night of July 10, 2001, Sef Gonzales walked into his family home in North Ryde, Sydney, and into a scene that would shock an entire nation. His mother, his father, his sister. All gone. All killed inside the house they called home.

 

In front of the cameras, he wept, he pleaded, and he played the role of a devastated son so convincingly that for a time, the world wept with him. But grief, it turns out, can be performed. And the detectives would soon notice the cracks.
