Nicole McKee: ACT Deputy Leader on the party promising to expand the Three Strikes regime to burglars

View descriptionShare

ACT expects the prison population to grow under its policy of cracking down on burglars - but says it's necessary.

The Party wants a mandatory three-year prison sentence for offenders convicted of burglary three times, claiming judges are too lenient in sentencing.

Deputy Leader Nicole McKee says it's clear changes need to be made, and repeat offenders will need to face punishment.

"We've said - enough is enough, and we want to make some changes here, make people accountable, put victims first and give the opportunity for New Zealanders to feel safe in their own homes."
