Geopolitical uncertainty is forcing the Government to push fuel assistance out a while longer.
Finance Minister Nicola Willis says they'll continually review the package.
Willis says there was a period when petrol prices dipped below $3 a litre, but they're climbing again.
"Treasury are forecasting prices could remain above $3 through August and September, so we've agreed to keep the temporary supports in place for now, because there hasn't been a sustained reduction in price."
