Melanie Reid: Newsroom investigative journalist on Newsroom taking Starship case to Court of Appeal
The case of a mother who was jailed after Starship Hospital doctors testified that her baby had been deliberately injured is set to have her conviction reconsidered by the Court of Appeal.
The Criminal Cases Review Commission has referred the conviction after new evidence was uncovered in an investigation led by Newsroom.
The Newsroom investigative journalist leading the charge, Melanie Reid, says they got the files reviewed all over the world - and the evidence revealed some new information.
"This is a misdiagnosis from Starship hospital, and so these are professors of neurosurgery and biochemists and geneticists and forensic neuropathologists - so they're not just any old doctor, they're very high-level specialists."
