The popular Piha campground has been closed down by Auckland Council, with no indication of when it will reopen ahead of the summer season.
The campground has been popular with Kiwi travellers for over 26 years, and it's unclear if it will be up and running in time for Labour weekend.
Waitākere Ranges Local Board chair Mark Allen says they received new information about possible flooding risks, and extra work had to be undertaken.
"We decided we needed to do some work on it, just to make sure everything was good... the position is, we want it to reopen it for the summer, while we do further work."
