Spark's full year financial report reveals a 91 percent jump in net profit to $499 million. 

The telco's also cut 627 staff due to a mix of falling demand and AI use. 

At the same time, CEO Jolie Hodson received a $859,000 bonus and a pay bump from $1.27 million dollars to $1.31 million. 

She says it's based on performance, and she didn't get a bonus during the 2024-2025 financial year because company goals weren't met.

A teen social media ban, resembling one pioneered by Australia, is being introduced to Parliament today.

The Online Safety Bill requires platforms like Instagram and TikTok to block accounts for under-16s, and set up stronger age verification. 

Failing to do so could bring penalties worth up to 10 percent of global revenue.

Over in Australia, new data shows renting a unit now costs more than half the median take-home pay of a single worker in every capital city.

Data shows northern WA, the Gold Coast and Sydney were the most expensive places to rent, but even cheaper places like Adelaide would cost workers more than half their pay for a rental. 

Australian correspondent Oliver Peterson says there's less homebuyers than ever, leading to more people putting pressure on the rental market.
