Ahead of his trip to Japan, the Prime Minister said the calibre was lacking in earlier delegations, labelling prior groups 'C-list'.

Netball New Zealand has reappointed Dame Noeline Taurua as Silver Ferns head coach until the end of next year's Netball World Cup in Sydney.

Dame Noeline guided the Silver Ferns to Commonwealth Games gold last month, and she's looking forward to helping the team move forward and improve.

Sportstalk host D'Arcy Waldegrave says it's been a chaotic few months for Netball NZ, and they needed a consistent choice.

The reappointment comes in the wake of the New Zealand side winning Commonwealth Games gold in Glasgow last month - less than a year after she was stood down from the role and then reinstated.

The 2027 World Cup begins in August in Sydney, and Taurua's feeling hopeful as training gets under way.

"The Commonwealth Games is such a treat, a dream, and I'm heading to the Netball World Cup now for next year and I'm riding the wave."
