Harriet Alexander: Times correspondent on UN members voting for a ceasefire in Gaza

View descriptionShare

Growing divergence between the US and Israel, as UN members vote for a ceasefire resolution in Gaza.

The US abstained and didn't veto the Security Council resolution, voted for by all 14 other members.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has cancelled meetings scheduled in Washington this week.

Times Correspondent Harriet Alexander says it's a sign of how difficult the two countries' relations have become.

"Public opinion in the US is really turning against the war, and they want much more effort on a ceasefire and getting humanitarian aid in."
