Houthi attacks against Saudi Arabia may be about getting the attention of the White House. 

Their attacks on Riyadh International Airport have injured 13 people. 

Former CIA Officer, Glenn Carle says that despite US support, Saudi Arabia has been unable to stop attacks from the Iran-backed rebels.

He says fresh claims from Donald Trump he will wipe out the country are baseless. 

"It's an inconceivable thing to do, it's essentially impossible from a whole range of angles. So he's just really talking typical bombast there."

Napier Negroni Week, an event hosted by the Napier City Business Association, has gotten underway for another year, with the city hoping to become the nation's negroni capital.

Running until September 27, 19 venues across Napier will be presenting their own variations on the cocktail - with two expert judges set to try all 36 offerings.

One judge, Gordon Russell, says the pair will be assessing the entries across two categories - classic and riff - and the goal is to stay professional throughout the process.

"We have been served smoked salmon negroni, and you kind of raise your eyebrows at that and think - oh my god. But the concept of soaking scotch whiskey with smoked salmon for a week or whatever, and as a garnish, having dehydrated smoked salmon, it sounds bizarre but in reality... that was an incredible drink."

"The unfair contracts should be ended, I think that's straightforward common sense. Junk fees - banned, that should be done as well. And smaller supermarkets can have guaranteed access to wholesale supply, absolutely."

Parliament passed our Free Trade Agreement last week and it's being ratified today, with Royal Assent from the Governor-General.

Prime Minister Chris Luxon says since starting speaking positively about trade with India - it's gone up 72 percent.

Newstalk ZB senior political correspondent Barry Soper says there's a lot of support for the FTA - and Luxon says the nation will start feeling the impacts in a month.
