A rare red weather warning for extreme heat has been issued in the UK, as temperatures could go as high as 40C in places.
In the worst-affected areas, the Met Office has warned the heatwave could reach the levels of the highest temperature on record - set in July 2022.
UK correspondent Enda Brady says the heatwave is also hitting France hard, with at least 18 fatalities.
