Former Māori All Black Shane Christie has died in Nelson, aged 39.

Friends of Christie have told NZME it was believed his death was self-inflicted and came after a period during which concern over his wellbeing had increased.

The US has launched attacks against five Iranian tankers, in response to Tehran taking aim at an American warship.

This is the latest in a series of tit-for-tat attacks between the US and Iran, and the US military has indicated they're not looking to slow things down. 

US correspondent Gordon Robison says this follows several attacks last week - and it's a sign that this back and forth has no end in sight.

Ali Williams has posted the job ad on his LinkedIn profile, calling for candidates to 'own all aspects of building the organisation' - from player contracting and stakeholder relations, through to marketing and fan engagement.

Labour is campaigning on stronger checks and balances to manage the growing risks of artificial intelligence.

The party's proposing establishing an 'Office of AI' to co-ordinate policy across Government, including clearer copyright rules, safe adoption for small businesses, and forcing data centres to secure their own renewable energy supply and pay connection costs. 

Labour's science, technology and innovation spokesperson, Reuben Davidson, says this will allow for more Government involvement in the technology.

"Like all opportunities, there's a level of risk - and I think it requires responsible governance."
